Cape Ann Community Foundation’s June 5 Candlepins for a Cause EventWill Spotlight Support for Non-Profit Organizations, Programs

The Cape Ann Community Foundation (CACF) will celebrate its support for the region’s non-profit organizations and programs with its second annual Candlepins for a Cause fundraiser event at Cape Ann Lanes on June 5.
That evening, from 5:30-7:30 pm, the Foundation will celebrate recipients of its 2025 grants. Since its inception in 2015, the foundation has awarded more than 50 grants totalling over $100,000 to Cape Ann non-profit and community organizations. This year, the Foundation received a record number of grant applications during the April proposal submission period. The Foundation selected nine recipients from across Cape Ann, representing a range of services.
At the June 5 event, CACF grant recipients and friends of the Foundation will come together to spotlight CACF support for community organizations and programs and promote adoption of the Cape Ann license plates, which play a key role in this work by generating funds for Foundation grants. The sale of Cape Ann license plates and direct donations to CACF make the Foundation grants possible.
Anyone interested in forming a team is asked to make a $200 donation for a team of six bowlers. Individual bowlers can join for a $35 donation to the Foundation. Those who’d like to attend the event and cheer on the bowlers – and support the Foundation – can do so with a $20 donation.
Bowlers will compete for prizes for best team score and best individual blowers.
Teams, individual bowlers and other attendees can register by clicking on the event link on the Cape Ann Community Foundation website, www.lovecapeann.com.
“The support we generate with Candlepins for a Cause – along with the revenue from Cape Ann license plate sales and direct donations to the Foundation – helps us assist our region’s non-profit and community organizations,” said CACF Co-Chair Britta Cahoon.
“The Candlepins for a Cause fundraiser will be a fun way to help the Foundation continue its work while honoring the organizations that serve the Cape Ann community,” said Tony Sapienza, CACF Co-Chair.
CACF held its first-ever Candlepins for a Cause event in June 2024, and the fundraiser was a sell-out. The Foundation also held a successful virtual golf Driving for Dollars fundraiser at Harbor 9 Golf in February, spotlighting the Cape Ann license plate.

Gloucester Stage Company Dedicates Building as The Natti-Willsky Performance Center in Honor of Transformative Donors
On Saturday, May 17th, Gloucester Stage Company hosted a special dedication ceremony to officially rename its home The Natti-Willsky Performance Center, in recognition of longtime supporters and generous benefactors Susanna Natti and Alan Willsky.
The renaming honors the enduring contributions of Susanna Natti and Alan Willsky, whose generosity of over $760,000 over the last 6 years has kept the company afloat through monumental challenges. The event brought together community members, artists, supporters, and civic leaders to celebrate a legacy of philanthropy, passion for the arts, and belief in the power of live performance.
In 2022, Susanna and Alan established The Robert Natti Fund in honor of Suzi’s late father— beloved local educator and performer, Robert Natti. The fund was created as a catalyst for growth, providing critical support for long-term capital projects and artistic endeavors at Gloucester Stage. Through this fund, the organization has been able to enhance experiences for both artists and audiences, in keeping with Robert’s lifelong dedication to the performing arts.
“Theatre and the arts could not thrive without visionaries,” said Producing Artistic Director Rebecca Bradshaw. “Susanna and Alan have been just that for Gloucester Stage.”
The heartfelt ceremony included remarks from a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Mayor Greg Verga, Senator Bruce Tarr, distinguished actor/director and former Interim Artistic Director Paula Plum, longtime actor/collaborator and Board Member Dossy Peabody, Current Board President Geoffrey Richon, and Alan Willsky himself.
In conjunction with the dedication, Gloucester Stage launched its “Name A Seat” Campaign— a new fundraising initiative that allows supporters to donate $500 to name a seat in the newly named performance center. Donors can place a plaque on a theater seat in their own name or in honor of a loved one. Attendees at the event received first access to select their seats, prompting a spirited rush to the seating map, raising over $13,000 in a day.
At a time when arts organizations are facing growing challenges, the Gloucester community continues to affirm its belief in the necessity of live theatre—a space to laugh, to connect, and to share the human experience.
