On Sunday March 5, 2017 the Cape Ann Cyclones, our local Special Olympics Junior Basketball Team traveled to the Fay School in Southboro to compete in their first Unified Team State Tournament. The Cyclones beat the Franklin Challengers(18-12) and the North Attleboro Rockets to earn the gold medal.The Cyclones showed great teamwork, outstanding sportsmanship throughout the day. Special Olympics Unified Sports®brings together ATHLETES with intellectual disabilities and athletes without intellectual disabilities (UNIFIED PARTNERS) to train and compete on the same team. Participants improve their physical fitness, sharpen their skills and learn acceptance and inclusion while participating in Unified Sports. ​

Reiki Ryoho is a Japanese Healing Method/Art that began in Japan in 1922 with Founder USUI Mikao Sensei. Reiki (ray-key) sessions are offered through light (or non) touch and without manipulation. With the recipient fully clothed, either lying or seated. Sessions generally create a relaxation response with potential benefits of:

  • relief of tension (emotional and physical)
  • increased calm
  • improved comfort
  • improved sleep
  • a greater sense of inner peace.

On Sunday the Cape Ann Cyclones, a Special Olympics Unified basketball Team will compete in their first Team State Tournament. The Cape Ann Cyclones have worked very hard to get to states; they are striving for the Gold. All competition will take place in Harlow gymnasium. Come down and support your favorite basketball team, the Cyclones first game is at 11am.

SeniorCare Inc. will hold its annual Valentine’s Day Breakfast Fundraiser Breakfast at The Gloucester House, located 63 Rogers Street in downtown Gloucester on Friday, March 10, 2017, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.  Tickets are $12 per person and include a buffet breakfast. Tickets are available in advance online or by calling 978-281-1750 or may be purchased at the door (cash or major credit card). Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit SeniorCare’s Meals on Wheels program.  For information about the breakfast, contact Paula Curley at 978-281-1750 x-560 or paula.curley@seniorcareinc.org.  (This event was postponed from its original February date due to inclement weather.
