“Fatboy Cichlid” by Deb Clarke

“Fatboy Cichlid” by Deb Clarke

From Deb Clarke:

“We had a 30 gallon community aquarium for quite a few years where this rare blue faced Cichlid  grew to 10 inches or so by eating most of the other fish in the tank.  He consumed tetras, angel fish, silver dollars, guppies, zebras…he left the Pleco alone…he ate the 5 inch crayfish too!  The painting of the Cichlid known as “Fatboy” to us was completed in 1995, just before I turned my full time attention to glass commissions.  The media:  oil on portrait linen with metal leaf and iridescent mylar.  pentimento from the still life of pears and florals and dishes is evident, along with some crackling issues from scrapedowns.  the crackled layer is very thin, the under paint is firmly attached to the substrate and in good condition.  the linen came from an end roll, unfortunately there is regular bleed through to the back of the linen.  the bleed is limited to the tack holes where it was attached to the loom.

YEAH BABY!!!

By Scott Stump, TODAY contributor

Let the spring fever commence!

Punxsutawney Phil crawled out early Saturday morning and did not see his shadow, signaling it will be an early spring.

“Spring, bring it on,” said TODAY’s Erica Hill.

“The groundhog has proved me wrong once again,” said TODAY’s Dylan Dreyer, who guessed the Phil would see his shadow. “He messes me up.”

Coming into this year, Phil had seen his shadow 100 times and had not seen it only 16 times since 1886, according to Punxsutawney Groundhog Club’s Inner Circle. There are no records for the missing 10 years. The 15 members of the inner circle, clad in tophats and tuxedos, decide in advance whether to announce Phil has seen his shadow or not, even though the groundhog does the symbolic duty.

In Punxsutawney, which is about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, the groundhog annual makes his prediction on a hill known as Gobbler’s Knob. The event annually attracts more than 15,000 people and brought as many as 30,000 in the wake of the 1993 release of the Bill Murray classic movie “Groundhog Day,” according to the Inner Circle. There also are updates on Twitter and Facebook.

The celebration dates to the early Christians in Europe, particularly the Germans, who were some of the earliest settlers of Pennsylvania and believed the groundhog’s intelligence was such that if the sun came out on Feb. 2 it would be smart enough to go back underground for another six weeks of winter. The first written observance of the tradition came in 1886 after it had earlier been conducted privately in wooded areas outside town.

SCANDAL!

7_03a_sm

Not since Al (I invented the internet) Gore tried to steal the 2000 election has there been such a voting Scandal. I received a call from the Poll Daddy poll watching Lawyers Today. I was informed that there was significant voting irregularity in the “Dump or not Not Dump Paulie Walnuts” Poll. Some Wise ass hacked into my poll and voted multiple times. The Lawyers did not say what question that person voted for multiple times. Therefore Poll Daddy has disqualified this Vote.  Maybe in a few months I will run this poll again but until then your stuck with me.  Thanks to all who voted legally for or against me.

My View and poll. Last Chance to Vote!

Last Chance to Vote! Poll ends at 12 midnight.

Keep me, Dump me or send me to Florida. It’s your choice and I will go with the final vote. You can trust me on that. Thanks to all that have voted so far.

Lately I’ve been dealing with almost the same decision as Fr. Green.  Actually, I had the same thoughts as Fr. Green. But, in the opposite way. I feel GMG has gone too “Nicey, Nice”.

When I first started we had a great time Busting each others cojohnes. Dead Seagulls, Rotting heron, Bathroom humor, etc.. I can understand Fr. Green’s concern because of the business he’s in. But I don’t have a higher authority to answer too, other than Joey C. Oh yeah and my Wife. I’m glad he decided to stay and share his work with everyone.
Joey once told me that some of my posts have cost GMG some readers. That’s a little hard to believe.  Below is some examples of the said posts and also a poll inspired by Fr Green.

Below is one of my firsts posts;

You Gotta Love Him!

No Matter What He’s Doing,

Joey’s Always Working Hard To Bring You Great Content!

Thanks Joey!

Found on Ebay… One of my Dad’s Paintings

I found this listing on Ebay. It’s one of my fathers Paintings Of the Dunes of Wingaersheek Beach with Annisquam Lighthouse in the distance. Every once in awhile I’ll check ebay and see if one of his paintings would pop up.  $295.00 is a great deal for one of my Dad’s 16″X20″ paintings. Looks like it needs a new frame though.  Check it out.
