Ever been to Heath’s Tea Room? I’ve been twice and going back again.

About two weeks ago I was out for a ride with my husband. He wanted to chill before going back to work. So, around the back shore we went to take in the scenery. We went to check on The Beauport Museum but they were not open. We did go back when they were and it was excellent. A while later, it was time to eat and we were going through Rockport and I suggested Heath’s Tea room. The rest is  history. Funny, I didn’t think that a man would be interested in such a place but I was proven wrong. The decor is elegant and it makes you feel like you are somewhere in England. The service is so personable. When we got there, Fatima greeted us and showed us to our table.

The waitress came and took our order. I had the blueberry tea; it was mild and delicious. Take note of the photos and check out the sugar cube tongs and china- fancy! I could not stop looking around the room. This time had to be documented with photos and so it was. I ordered Shepherd’s Pie. It was so good and the portion was to much for me that I had to take about half of it home. It was so funny, Mike came up and asked me if anything was wrong. I said, yes, it was terrible. I was joking! No way could I eat all that at once. It was the best I ever had in my life. Real succulent beef chunks. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.  My husband had the turkey sandwich. Let me tell you, that was tantalization for the taste buds, and that’s what I am having next time I go back, for sure. We shared a cranberry walnut scone with chocolate drizzle and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side for dessert. What a way to top off a meal! Melt in your mouth!

Fatima and her daughter Kim were at another table, and asked if we wanted to go see Mike in the kitchen. I said sure, and my husband was interested in the chef’s side of it. Mike is a dear friend who has a band called Mike O’Connell and The Backstabbers. I love them. Check ’em out. http://www.myspace.com/mikeoconnellmusic He writes some pretty mean songs and the band’s covers are unreal. They are playing at Lat 43 Thursday night, June 9th.

Ok, back to Heath’s. Mike was so happy to have us he even put on his chef’s jacket. The refrigerator has Mike’s heros on it. Sometime if you are lucky you can hear Mike imitating them. Hey Moe and a Yuk, yuk, yuk!

The Satch Kerans Band ~ Rhumb Line ~ Friday

“Kerans just keeps getting better and surer with the years…and the wisdom brought by time and experience plays right into his wheelhouse on his third solo effort: populist power-pop with a lived-in feel, in the vein of early Tom Petty, Dwight Twilley, or John Mellencamp.”

Lisa Marie to join the Blues Party this Thursday night

Dave Says,

That bodacious babe of the blues, Ms. Lisa Marie, Blows into Dodge this week for another grueling foray into the abyss of Railroad Ave. The Rhumb Line, that is. She’ll be bringin’ her big bag o’  musical tricks  and we’re looking forward to an amusing nite of hijinks and muse-ical madness.
Also on board will be that keyboard millipede, Mr. John Cameron, and Madhouse drummbler, Mr. Roger Brocklebank. Of course, Greg T. and myself complete the transaction. See you there!

Gloucester’s Kingsley Flood, Rhumbline, Saturday, June 4th.

Kingsley Flood describe themselves as an Americana band that “draws as much from Woody Guthrie and the Band as it does Joe Strummer and the Replacements.”

Kingsley Flood’s latest recording titled “I Don’t Wanna Go Home” was recently featured on NPR’s  “Song of the Day” , and the K-Flood does indeed rock.  They have a devoted allegiance of fans in Gloucester who pack the Rhumb Line everytime. The band’s lead guitarist, George Hall, has lived in Gloucester for 10 years, after many years of rocking Boston in former bands Dogzilla and Seks Bomba.  Kingsley Flood will be playing at the Rhumb Line Saturday, June 4th, three sets. It’s a great experience to see them close up, the tiny room explodes with rocking wild abandon. Great new track…but also worth checking out the first album Dust Windows, for which Kingsley Flood won “Best New Artist of the Year” at the 2010 Boston Music Awards. They also have many videos posted on YouTube including a killer version of another new song, “Mannequin Man” as performed live at TT the Bear’s in Cambridge.

See what Dave has to say,

A busy one, so, let’s get goin’! This Thursday  at the Rhumbline  we’re proud to present that Tootin’ Torquemada of the Tenor: Mr. Andrew Clark. He’s  got some new toonz for us to do. I’m willin’ and able. Backing him up will be that irrrepressible Irish Cream of a drummbler, Mr. Benny Benson. Greg T. and myself will fill out the wasteline.

Now, on Friday nite, It’s the Season Premiere of The Geezerz, aka Dave Sag’s Atomic Cocktail at the Studio on Rocky Neck. Last year, we chased out all the termites with our rousing renditions of all our unpopular blooz tunes. That’s Dave Brown, Dave Mattacks, Greg Tower, and  myself. We hope to continue the tradition this year, so, c’mon down!  We start at 9 pm, go to midnite.

Last and least, next Monday nite, I’ll be limping in to Captain Carlo’s for a fabulous evening of classic jazz ,dixieland, blues, and the Great American Schlongbook with my fave musical buddies, The Good Old Salty Jazz Band. There’s probably 7 or 9 of us, I’m not really sure, and Mark Earley and Myself are the youngest members, though it’s hard to tell sometimes. YOU SHOULD BE THERE: THIS IS IMPORTANT. You don’t know what you’re missing. Aaah, a warm evening, groovey jazz, and cocktails on the deck; what could be better… Start time is 6:30 and we go to 9:30, so all you old farts have no excuse for dozing off and missing all the fun!
