My name is Julie Lopes, and I’m raising money to support my best friend’s family during this difficult time.

Patrick Wetson is a 9 year old boy living in Hamilton, MA with his mother, Erin and younger sister Camilla. After some concerning symptoms arose, Erin sought out answers at Boston Children’s and Patrick was recently diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor. This will be a long battle for the family, and they will need the support of the community. Funds will support medical expenses, travel, and basic needs as Erin, who is also a widow and single parent, will be taking a leave of absence to focus on Patrick’s care. We appreciate your support deeply.

A Visit to The Marine Railways

I visited the Gloucester Marine Railways on Rocky Neck to see what’s new. As always, they are very busy down there repairing, refurbishing and spiffing up vessels from all over!

Trash and Recycling Collection Update – from The City Of Gloucester

Trash & Recycling Update – September 12th

Curbside recycling remains on an every-other-week schedule. Next week, beginning Monday, September 15, curbside recycling will be collected. Please have your trash and recycling out by 7 AM on your regular pickup day.

If your trash or recycling is missed, wait until after 5 PM to report it on SeeClickFix. Missed stops are reported to Republic Services, and they return the next day to finish routes.

We know there have been some hiccups getting curbside recycling back up and running, and the first week wasn’t perfect. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work through these challenges.

Recycling Drop-Off Center Hours:

The recycling drop-off site at the DPW yard will be open tomorrow, Sat. Sept. 13th from 9 AM – 2 PM.

Starting Monday, September 15th, the recycling drop-off center will be open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12 PM to 6 PM, and Saturdays from 9 AM to 2 PM.
