Gloucester Police Investigating Series ofCar Break-Ins

GLOUCESTER — Chief Edward Conley reports that the Gloucester Police Department is actively investigating a series of car break-ins. On Monday, July 21, at approximately 6:35 a.m., Gloucester Police responded to 12 Lexington Ave. for reports of multiple cars being broken into.   A preliminary investigation determined that two cars had their windows smashed, and personal belongings, including debit cards, were stolen. It was also determined that the victims were all in a fitness class at Freedom Fitness during the time of the thefts.   At 6:40 a.m., Gloucester Police were dispatched to Fitness Zone, 37 Blackburn Center, for another report of a car window being smashed and personal belongings taken.   It was also reported that another vehicle was found near Dory Drive with its license plates stolen.   A short time later, at 6:54 a.m., Gloucester Police received a third report of a car break-in at North Shore 24 Fitness, 6 Whistlestop Way. Similarly to the other two incidents, the driver’s side window was shattered and personal belongings were taken. Gloucester Police are actively investigating these incidents. Anyone with information regarding the recent break-ins should contact Gloucester Police at 978-325-5400.

Did You Know About See-Click-Fix?

An acquaintance recently suggested that I really needed to get down to the Fisherman’s Memorial because the flowers were really outstanding, so I did just that. I noticed there were pink markings on two of the cenotaphs marking them up. It was more that just chalk (which I could have cleaned up myself) so I contacted SeeClickFix to report it. So many people have mentioned to me that they are unaware of this reporting service, that I thought it might be beneficial to share my experience. It’s available online at this link or you can download an app. It works best with one or two photos to verify the issue you are reporting so be prepared with that, otherwise it’s quick and easy and VERY effective. I received notification just a few hours later that the issue had been addressed. If you see something the City should address, check out SeeClickFix.
