How hot was the weather on June 17, 1775 at the Battle of Bunker Hill?
Stage Fort Park came alive with hundreds of participants this weekend, each reenactor draped in layers of colorful, authentic period attire, creating an immersive spectacle worthy of a PBS miniseries. On this sweltering Sunday, the anniversary week of the fateful 1775 battle, spectators experienced firsthand how arduous the fighting must have been, getting a tangible sense of the summer conditions, too. Saturday there was a breeze. Participants found shade where they could. How hot were the tents? The temperature dipped into the 60s on Friday and Saturday and participants told me sleeping there was great.

We treated ourselves to dinner at Tonno on Main St in Gloucester recently. We made online reservations (easy-peasy) and were warmly greeted upon arrival. It’s always a treat to be served at Tonno as they are unfailingly efficient, friendly and informative. I can’t help but order the Chicken Milanese (an absolute favorite) and Jim ordered his favorite Chicken Parmesan with garlic bread. We had the panna cotta for dessert and it was smooth and delicious. Chalk it up to Tonno for another great dining experience. It was our choice for “Best Thing We Ate” that week. Thanks!
