High School jazz musicians from Gloucester and Rockport will hold a benefit concert to raise money to fight childhood cancer this Wednesday, March 13, at 7 p.m. at the Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport. The event is free and open to the public but the student organizers hope each attendee will contribute $10 if able to.
The concert will feature performances from the Gloucester High School Jazz Band, Rockport High School Jazz Band and the “Boulevard Beats,” a jazz group that includes local students Aurelia Harrison on vocals, Rafael Jabba on drums, Esme Sarrouf on piano, David Burg on bass, Willow Barry on trumpet, Thea Cunningham on trombone, Sean Buckley on sax and Sam Pallazolla on guitar.
All the money raised will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a world leader in the battle against childhood diseases.
Jazz fans who are unable to attend but would like to make a donation can give at the fundraising website: https://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR/TAEvents/Events?px=2965976&pg=personal&fr_id=145600©_link_share
