Rocky Neck Art Colony (RNAC) proudly presents GENERATIONS at Cove Gallery (37 Rocky Neck Avenue), showcasing the work of Chris Barensfeld, Jeffrey Marshall, Vanessa Michalak, Ruth Mordecai, all Cape Ann artists from different generations who continue the legacy of painting on Cape Ann.
Art making is often a solitary process. Having a community such as exists on Cape Ann is especially important for the growth of creativity. The strength of that community is exemplified in the relationships between artists who exist across generations, where dialogues cross boundaries, and artists focus on commonalities of process regardless of age. These artists have found these commonalities, recognizing in each other a similar spark.
This exhibition will explore how Cape Ann functions like an ecosystem: continually bringing in new life and experience that revitalizes the creative community. Each of these artists represents a different stage of this cycle.
The public is invited to celebrate the creativity of the artists at the Opening Reception on Thursday, June 22, from 4-7 PM. The artists will discuss their work on Thursday, July 13 from 6-7 PM.
Exhibiting Artists:
Chris Barensfeld, Jeffrey Marshall, Vanessa Michalak, Ruth Mordecai

Sharing information from the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries Facebook post regarding Free Saltwater Fishing days this weekend June 17 and June 18 2023:
As you well know, many recent days have been somewhat overcast, but still very beautiful. So here’s my contribution to those days from a recent “drive around”:
Healthy soil, sanitary tools, and cooperation with other life forms are the keys to our most effective approach to pest management in your vegetable garden: prevention! In this online workshop, Backyard Growers will walk you through how to minimize human, microbiological, and plant risk by using the ecosystem as the starting point to diagnose pest issues threatening your harvest.
Backyard Growers is a Gloucester-based 501(C)3 nonprofit organization committed to cultivating healthy, connected, resilient communities by empowering people to grow their own food.
