Weather permitting, on Friday night August 9 from 9:00 to 11:00, the Gloucester Area Astronomy Club will have telescopes set up for free public viewing on the grounds of the Lanesville Community Center, 8 Vulcan St in Lanesville. Everyone is invited to come see beautiful views of Saturn, the moon, 13 billion year old star clusters, the glowing remains of dying stars, and more.

This is an opportunity to learn all about (and to see) what’s up in our beautiful Cape Ann night sky, and to get all your astronomy questions answered. It’s still high summer, so we suggest you bring insect repellant. Remember, this program is dependent on clear skies; if you can see the moon you can assume we’ll be there.

GAAC meets at 8:00pm on the second Friday of every month for presentations, snacks and good conversation at the Lanesville Community Center. Learn more at our website, http://gaac.us and our Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/gaacpage . You can follow us on Twitter as @gaactweet.
