Check out the roasting chickens in your supermarket. It’s a great way to feed a family. I love the crispy skin even though we all know it’s not the most healthy part.

Lately the Mrs has been buying chickens and roasting them. She said she paid something like $6 for this beauty and we will end up feeding the family twice on it. I’m not sure how she cooked it other than she stuffed a couple lemons up it’s coochie and roasted it with onions and herbs. It was tender and juicy and delish. Then she made a reduction of the juices and made a gravy, yum!

“Sorry for the short notice on this one, but we just today decided to have an impromptu encore of last week’s opera presentation, “Hänsel und Gretel” by (The Other) Engelbert Humperdinck. We had some devoted opera fans offer to fill enough seats to open early today and repeat this dazzling show (think “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” by way of Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” sprinkled liberally with the essence of German nationalism). The show will go on today (Sunday), January 4th at 12:00pm noon. Tickets are $12.50 each, and we’ll be showing a teaser of the (two shows only!) January 31st Pavarotti Tribute show starring Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli and Sting.”

Hi GMG Folks!
When I met Joey last fall, I knew his energy and passion would be contagious. And it was! I’m thrilled to be a guest author here! As a native and lifelong Gloucester resident, I welcome the opportunity to share experiences, memories, and dreams for our city.
A little about me-
In my grandparents’ house in Magnolia, I was brought up by my parents, Fran and Ed “Pee Wee” Lowe (Gloucester Fire Dept.) with my sister, Pat and my brother, Kevin, and tons of neighborhood kids. We all went through the public schools and did the things kids did back in the late 50’s and 60’s. For better or worse!
I had my 2 kids early and went to college late, graduating from Boston State with a degree in psychology. From there I worked at several child care centers, and finally became the owner/director of the Blynman Schoolhouse housed in the antique “Little Red Schoolhouse” in Magnolia until it closed in 2007.
I love kids (with 4 grandchildren, I have no choice!), teaching, photography, music, Gloucester past and present, brainstorming ideas, looking at possibilities, and meeting new people to share all this with! As well as being here at Good Morning Gloucester, I have a photography site (including 2008 Fiesta photos) and a blog for Cape Ann families.
