Latitude 43 Sushi Pit

The centerpiece of the place is the sushi pit.
I guess they were a man down, operating with two sushi chefs.  Overheard in the pit was that one of the sushi chefs quit because he was taking the train from Boston and they closed after the last train left to get him home.

We had a spicy tuna roll, excellent.  A California roll, also excellent made with real crab.  Edamame which I prefer with a little more salt and a shrimp tempura roll which we both didn’t care for because the shrimp wasn’t crispy in the roll and found the addition of carrot to be odd.

Compared to Sushi Island, Latitude 43 had one roll that was slightly better, one that was as good and the other that wasn’t close. The room at Latitude 43 is beautiful and lends itself to community conversation which I dig.

The prices were higher but reasonable when you take the room into consideration.

The Mrs was impressed with the decor.

The octopus sculpture hanging over the sushi pit was really something.

The Mrs wondered if you were to start up your own joint if you could contact the local art colleges and see if they would be willing to have a contest for its students with the winner having their piece displayed.

Beautiful room. Warm, inviting.

A huge thank you should go out to folks that have the confidence and willingness to investthis kind of dough in Gloucester.

This place is yet another reason Gloucester has it all over the muckey muck towns a little further up the line that pretend to be great but have no soul.

What a beautiful spot. A ton of folks out walking their dogs this morning. This is one of the few shots I took that didn’t have a dog in it.

I’ll post some another time with a few of the dogs loving the weather on Good Harbor Beach today.

Ran into Tony Gross, lobsterman extrodinaire down at Rose’s Marine where he had the Sandollar hauled out for some tweaking and maintenance.

Here’s a man that loves his craft.

Tony is one of the good guys.
