The Compass Rose-Custom Tattoos
Gloucester has a new tattoo shop on Main street-The Compass Rose. Mike and I passed by today and we stopped to check them out. The shop is at 35 Main street in a pretty sweet 2nd floor location. It’s clean, professional, with artwork covering the walls. Mike decided to get a custom skull tattoo.
Matt Maguire owns the shop and also works as an artist along with Jon Saulnier. We didn’t have a chance to meet Matt, but he sounds like a pretty cool guy and a great artist. Mike worked with Jon, describing the tattoo he wanted while Jon worked his magic designing the tattoo.

Jon did such a great job on Mike’s tattoo. The design and colors are perfect. I’ll be making an appointment for myself this week to get my rosa rugosa tattoo touched up. There are many ways fans of Gloucester can show their love for our favorite seaside town — you’ll find "The Man at the Wheel" emblazoned on tee-shirts, baseball caps, refridgerator magnets, ashtrays and coffee mugs up and down Main Street. But we were particularly impressed with one Blue Shutters guest — Bob from Maryland — who showed us this most awesome tattoo. Bob, whose has roots here, says he always has Gloucester with him wherever he goes.

Poll- Do You Have A Tattoo Or Have You Considered Getting One?
I’ve beat myself up for years considering getting a tattoo. For years what held me back was the lack of something that I really really wanted to put on myself permanently. Now that years have gone by and I’ve been in the lobster business for so long I’ve been wanting to get a lobster tattoo.
I have the exact design that I want and I know who I would go to -Molly at Witch City Ink but a couple of things have prevented me from doing so. One, I don’t know exactly where I’d put it. You see I have skinny forearms, and not only are they skinny but they are somewhat hairy. Gross, right? Who would want to look at a tattoo with hair growing out of it?
Anyway the design that I want features a traditional lobster from the overhead perspective. The one with the claws right out in front of it in a straight line. then I would like a scroll banner with Madeline written on one above the lobster and Eloise on a scroll banner below.
Well enough about me. Do you have a tattoo? Have you ever had any desire to get one but chickened out? If you did get one what would it be?
