Phantom of the Opera
Silent movie with live music

One of the scariest and most influential horror films of all time, this 1925 silent film classic features Lon Chaney in the title role as the deformed Phantom who haunts the Paris Opera House, causing murder and mayhem in an attempt to force the management to make the woman he loves a star. A gorgeous new print of the film has been carefully restored to the intricate color scheme of the original release. The Alloy Orchestra performs a new score on the Shalin Liu stage for this “ghoulish” Halloween screening.

WHO:
Dave Brubeck, honored by the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in 2009 for his incredible talents and lifelong accomplishments and contributions to the field, is recognized for helping to ease jazz into the mainstream, marrying spontaneity with classical rigor, making unlikely time signatures irresistible, and adding swing to serious music. From the Dave Brubeck Quartet’s worldwide success in the 1950s and ‘60s, through the jazz opera Cannery Row Suite he created with his wife Iola Brubeck at the 2006 Monterey Jazz Festival, Brubeck continues to surprise.
John Raimondi’s work is in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the National Museum of American Art at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC; and the Portland Museum of Art, Portland, Maine, among many others. To date, Mr. Raimondi has completed more than 100 monumental sculptures for public, corporate and private collections worldwide, such as Stockley Park, Heathrow Airport, London; Omaha International Airport, Nebraska; and the Sculpture Garden in Vienna, where his work represents the United States.
Founded in 1981, Rockport Music presents exceptional concerts and cultural events in its acclaimed new home, the Shalin Liu Performance Center. Located 45 minutes north of Boston in the historic, seaside village of Rockport, Massachusetts, Rockport Music is best known for its summer chamber music festival which features the world’s finest ensembles and soloists.
