EZEKIEL’S WHEELS KLEZMER BAND PERFORMS AT MUSIC ON MEETINGHOUSE GREEN FRIDAY, JULY 15
Internationally-acclaimed Klezmer ensemble brings high energy performance to free Friday evening concert at the corner of Middle and Church Streets, July 15 at 6:00 p.m.
Praised by critics both individually and collectively for their virtuosity and passion for Klezmer music, the five musicians of Ezekiel’s Wheels Klezmer Band return for the seventh season of Music on Meetinghouse Green. Their repertoire includes traditional instrumental renditions and original compositions of Klezmer-inspired music as well as songs in Yiddish and English. A favorite of local audiences, they have played at the Kennedy Center and Yidstock, and continue to build an international following with their performance at the Third Biennial International Jewish Music Festival in Amsterdam where they received the Audience Pick Award. The five performers feature Abigale Reisman on violin and vocals; Jonathan Cannon on violin; Kristen Lamb on double bass and vocals; Nat Seelen on clarinet, and Pete Fanelli on trombone. An accomplished violinist and composer, Abigale Reisman is the music director at Temple Ahavat Achim in Gloucester.
Free-will donations will support the concert’s featured local non-profit partner Backyard Growers, connecting people and communities through access to healthy food. The evening’s food vendor is the Causeway.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Now entering its seventh season, Music on Meetinghouse Green features nine free Friday evening concerts from July 8 to September 9. Performances are held on the Green and feature great music, favorite foods from local vendors, and a different North Shore non-profit organization featured each week through free-will donations from the audience. Concerts begin at 6:00 p.m. and conclude at 8:30 p.m. Some chairs will be provided and audience members are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. Picnic with delicious local food from our vendors or bring your own. Performances are handicapped accessible and parking on the Green is limited to persons with disabilities.
ABOUT THE GLOUCESTER MEETINGHOUSE FOUNDATION
Founded in 2015, the Gloucester Meetinghouse Foundation is dedicated to preserving the landmark building as a civic hub, entertainment venue, and community center. In addition to its work to preserve the historic 1806 Meetinghouse, GMF is currently raising funds to restore Meetinghouse Green. The GMF has received a $130,000 grant from the Community Preservation Act and a $2,000 grant from the Essex Heritage Partnership Grant Program towards a total project goal of $340,000. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2023.

Classic Rock from The Bar Chords at third Gloucester Meetinghouse Summer Concert, July 20, 2018
Put on your dancing shoes and prepare for a trip down memory lane presented by The Bar Chords, at the third free Gloucester Meetinghouse Summer Concert, July 20, 6 – 9 pm, at the corner of Church and Middle Street.
Young and old will groove to the beat of classic rock of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s performed by the band’s vocalists and harmonica, acoustic and electric guitar players. Rock to the iconic rhythms of The Beatles, The Eagles, The Rolling Stones, The Barenaked Ladies, and so much more. Lead vocalist Frank Reaney, who started the band in 2013 as a way to bring back the great memories of a bygone era, said, “Every song we play is the one you’ve wanted to hear live, yet most bands playing music from this era don’t play, won’t play or can’t play.”
The concert is free. In order to give back to the community, concert-goers are encouraged to make free-will donations to Maritime Gloucester, a non-profit organization seeking to inspire students and visitors to value marine science, maritime heritage, and environmental stewardship through hands-on education and experiences. Bring cash or a checkbook, beach chairs or blankets. Fresh food is provided by Willow Rest, a foodies mecca on the Annisquam/Riverdale side of Cape Ann. In case of rain the concert will be held inside the Meetinghouse. Parking is available on Meetinghouse Green, in lots nearby, and at St. Peter’s Square.
