My View of Life on the Dock
Yesterday my friend Walt and I kayaked (into the wind) from Magnolia Beach to Kettle Island. It’s not that far, but at high tide it seems a lot farther. Once we reached the island, we climbed the rocks like kids to the top. The view was fantastic! Coming down was a challenge and leaving the island proved to be another challenge. The wind had picked up , but we paddled hard and rode the waves back to the beach. Exhilarating!
#4 Grandkid, Kylie, convinced me to cross the weekend boat traffic in our sit-on kayaks yesterday morning. It’s always cool when you get out to the island. What a gorgeous day!

What a beautiful morning off Magnolia Beach

As I was picking up my kayak a couple of days ago, the smell of Stinky Beach reminded me how much I loved this place. Wading through mounds of seaweed in bare feet and dodging the rocks was a way of life as a kid. Still is. I remember my first attempt with my friends to row a tiny “borrowed” boat that I think, was my cousin Dickie’s. We went around in circles for hours. Kid life in Magnolia!
