Chris Stovall Brown joins the Dave Sag’s Blues Party tonight at 8:30pm @ The Rhumb Line. 9.4.2014
Omigod….what an amazing weekend Labor Daze was. Lots o’ music and drunken dancing. Anybody who livered through it: congratulations. The clinic is open at Addison-Gilbert and Sullivan for those of you who can’t stop crying. Now onto the zbig news.
Let’s welcome back Mr. Chris “Stovetop” Brown to our stage this Thursday. Winner of this years Hugh Beaumont Award for excellence in gum chewing, Mr.. B. is sure to get your heart in a big tither as he bites his way thru the chord changes without dropping a stitch of laughter. But, seriously, folks, Chris is one of my personal favorites, as he can play guitar, sing and yuck it up with the best of them. Never a dull moment.
And we’re using a cool and totally new drummbler in the form of Mr. Chris Anzelone, a monster in his own right. Can’t wait! c’mon down and watch the fur fly!

Quotes
“For what it’s worth to my ears, this version of SSA is one of the best versions I’ve heard. It’s how The Ronettes or Shangra La’s would approach it. Very cool stuff!!” – Paul Kopf, Magic Christian
“It’s fantastic…And what an insight for me. Mainly, because I never realized The Four Tops influence when I wrote it. But it’s obvious…because of their version. Thanks a whole lot for hippin’ me to it!” – Cyril Jordan, Flamin’ Groovies
“I’m fascinated by the fact that you guys are doing material that’s inspired by the things we did with Phil Spector in the ’60′s. I think it pays tribute to a classic sound which will always be fresh and which will never become dated over time.” – LaLa Brooks, The Crystals

Cheryl Arena plays the Thursday Night Blues Party @ The Rhumb Line 8:30-11:30 August 21st.
It’s a pleasure to have back that rascal of the blues: Ms. Cheryl Arena. A great vocalist and harpist, she’s sure to have you shakin’ your tootsies all over the dance floor. We weren’t sure she was gonna make it, since she accidentally overdosed on Polish Fly last week and nearly broke her arm bowling. However, rest assured, all is well in bloozeland and we got the band to prove it. She’s bringing along Pete Henderson on guitar. Pete’s a real treasure and hasn’t been here in a long time. He’s killer! Forrest Padgett handles eggbeater duties, and I, Salmon Dave Sag provide cosmic relief.
And Friday night I’ll be down to Guiseppe’s eating pizza with Orville Giddings and who knows who else. But I think Marque Earley and Steve Chaggaris are the great unknowns. We’re gonna have a 120 volt contest, see who can last the longest. Free sparring partner for any of you over the age of 50! Seeya there!

We’re opening up the bomb bay this week to allow Mr. Evan Goodrow to fall on your brain stem. He of the handsome visage and huge pecs is ready and willing to take you to another dimension of sight and sound, where the naiads frolic to the boogie beat. Mr. G is a killer guitarist and vocalist. You must know this by now. He’s bringing along that fabulous Irish Ace of Pace, Mr. Benny Benson to chop some wood. And I, Salmon Dave Sag will be on base dooties. Smelling salts recommended.
Many busy executives ask me: who’s coming soon? So, here’s a rundown of upcoming events: Aug. 21 Ms. Cheryl Arena, harp and vocals, with the all star cast of Pete Henderson, rippin’ guitarist and Forrest “Frosty” Padgett on whips and chainsAug.28: the big one with The Flying Amero Brothers, featuring both J.B. and Fly! Sept.18 The Three Stooges, featuring Edd Scheer, Ricky “King” Russell and Mario Perrett
