Rick and I put our kayaks in from the Stone Pier from Jones’ Pier and did some kayaking over to Wingersheek. What a beauty of a day on Saturday.

Notice To Kayakers From Crescent52
Hi Joey
do you think you could post this?
Kayaking is a great sport, and a wonderfully graceful way to enjoy the outdoors. I notice many paddlers I see on Cape Ann hold the paddle upside down. To get the most power, and best aerodynamic response the straighter side of the blade should be on top (better approach for wind) and the curved part of the blade should be on the bottom- allowing more power to sweep through the water.
The attached photo is a good straight on view of the way to hold a paddle.
Enjoy the water!

Jones River
Rick and I went out Kayaking on Wednesday and it was incredible. We are having so much fun exploring.
The Annisquam River offers pretty, protected paddling and acres of marshland to explore at high tide. Novices can find scenic and quiet paddling on the Jones River and in Lobster Cove. More adventurous kayakers can paddle into Ipswich Bay to visit sandy Wingaersheek Beach or the many rocky coves along Gloucester’s northern coast. Paddlers of all skill levels can enjoy this diverse and interesting area.

Kayaking out to Kettle Island
Yesterday my friend Walt and I kayaked (into the wind) from Magnolia Beach to Kettle Island. It’s not that far, but at high tide it seems a lot farther. Once we reached the island, we climbed the rocks like kids to the top. The view was fantastic! Coming down was a challenge and leaving the island proved to be another challenge. The wind had picked up , but we paddled hard and rode the waves back to the beach. Exhilarating!
