This Plant Will Produce Flowers All Summer

The Hibiscus plant that The Bean and Snoop Mad picked out is blooming and I swear it has a gazillion buds ready to pop.

Yep it was a gazillion………I counted.

Snoop Mad is a Sneaky Devil

Look closely at this picture.

It’s not the nasty remnants of Madeline’s dinner that I want you to focus on, but check out the blue tape that covered that little hole in the chair.

The Mrs put that tape over that hole so that Madeline wouldn’t stick chunks of food down there. The little bugger figured it out and picked and picked at that tape til she worked a little opening and wouldn’t you know there was a pile of noodles and black beans stuck down under there.

So I got to thinking about the thought process of a one year old when she decided to pick that tape off and I think I have it figured out. It goes something like this-
In Madeline’s sneaky mind “Hmm, mommy just put that tape over that hole so there must be some inherent pleasure that she is denying me by not allowing me to stuff little bits of undigested food down said hole. Well lets see, if I pick at this tape while she is turned around washing the dishes I might be able to get just enough food down there to make a disgusting mess. That way she will be forced to take this seat that she straps me into off and clean the entire thing. She has nothing better to do really.”
You think thats how it went?

This is the plant Snoop Mad and The Bean picked out at Kane’s back in early May.  Now it has begun its flowering which will continue all summer in its corner on the porch.

Turkey Meat w/ Frijoles Negros, Salsa and a Dash Of Mexican Cheddar

This is one of The Mrs’ staple dishes for when she needs to throw something together quickly for us.

She puts some turkey meat in the pan with taco seasoning and browns it. Then we always have cans of frijole negros and salsa laying around and even a little mexican cheddar.

It’s full of lean protein and packed with flavor and can be whipped up in minutes.

Snoop Mad Dances (not really)

I always find it amusing when parents and grandparents talk about their children as if they are world class athletes or mensa candidates.

My children are different though. They really are special. Just last week we were contacted by the producers of Dancing with The Stars. They want Snoop Mad to be the first one year old to enter the competition because she’s that good. Seriously.

Duck In The Back Yard

As you may imagine, Snoop Mad goes ballistic when the ducks come around in the back yard. You can tell she wishes she could use her words, but as of right now it’s just Duck! Duck! Duck! and a lot of arms flapping around.

This Is Not An Illusion

This isn’t a trick with the camera where I would place Madeline two feet in behind these tulips to make them look bigger. These Tulips are freakin ginormous. She looks tiny but is actually in the 75% percentile for height for her age. I’ll have to find out where the Mrs bought them and report back here. I almost remember her saying that she got them at some discount store for next to nothing.

Snoop Mad is Dwarfed By Ginormous Tulips

I don’t know where the Mrs got the Tulip bulbs that her and The Bean planted last fall but I swear they are the biggest tulips I’ve ever seen.   These are some Ginormous Tulips.

The Mrs’ Brocolli Salad Recipe

From The Mrs after many emails asking for the recipe-

Brocolli Salad Recipe:
(I don’t add the raisins or the sunflower seeds, but I do add 1 pkg shredded Cheddar Cheese and instead of the green onions, I use 1 large red onion)

* 1 pound bacon
* 4 cups broccoli florets
* 5 green onions, chopped
* 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
* 1/4 cup golden raisins
* 1 cup mayonnaise
* 1/2 cup white sugar
* 6 tablespoons red wine vinegar

DIRECTIONS

1. Place bacon in a large skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until evenly browned. Cool, crumble, and set aside.
2. In a large bowl, toss together broccoli, green onions, sunflower seeds, raisins, and bacon.
3. In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, sugar, and red wine vinegar. Toss with vegetables to coat. Cover, and chill until serving.

Joey adds-

She didn’t say this part but  I remember her mentioning that if she is having a party she chops up all the ingredients and puts them in the fridge the night before in separate containers and then mixes them together just before serving to maintain the crispness of the veggies.

Day Three- The Bean and Her Sleeping Bee

Jeeze Ellie, that’s one dead sleepy bee.  Three straight days now.
