ARCADIAN WINDS was founded at Boston University in 1987 as a woodÂwind trio conÂsisting of flute, clarÂinet, and basÂsoon. The ensemble expanded to a wind quintet in 1989 and has since preÂmiered almost 50 new works and chamÂpiÂoned many others. As recipÂiÂents of Chamber Music America’s “Residency Partnership Grant” in 2004, the Arcadian Winds proÂvided a year-long intenÂsive chamber music expeÂriÂence for stuÂdents in the Boston Public Schools, culÂmiÂnating in a perÂforÂmance of a comÂmisÂsioned piece by Daniel Pinkham for the proÂgrams’ top wind players. With a strong comÂmitÂment to eduÂcaÂtion, the group conÂtinues to bring chamber and conÂtemÂpoÂrary music into the public, priÂvate and comÂmuÂnity schools in the Boston Area including ongoing work as facÂulty with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra.
