Birdseye roof top at the Beauport Hotel

Had a wonderful lunch with my friend Carol at the Beauport Hotel. We were then escorted up to the Roof top and enjoyed a speculator view.

BEAUTIFUL BEAUPORT HOTEL BREAKFAST REVIEW

Beauport Hotel Dining Review -1 copyright Kim SmithOverlooking Pavilion Beach in Gloucester’s beautiful historic working harbor front district, the Beauport Hotel is the North Shore’s newest coastal getaway. Prior to the official opening, my husband Tom and I had the pleasure of previewing the dinner menu (read preview here). The Beauport emanates a feeling of relaxed and casual elegance, and Tom and I shared in the sense of being transported to a world of leisure and luxury.

Most recently, and joined by our son, we had a delightful breakfast on the open air deck. With incomparable views, delicious and fresh locally sourced food–served by friendly and efficient waitstaff–any meal at any time of day at the new Beauport Hotel promises to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Beauport Hotel Gloucester Dining Review waffles copyright Kim SmithAlex had the wonderfully tasty Belgian waffles with sweet strawberries, whipped cream, and authentic Vermont maple syrup. The market fresh bowl of fruit was simply outstanding, no unripe duds as is more often than not the case with offerings of mixed fruit.

The eggs were perfectly poached and served with a light and lemony Hollandaise sauce. The chef kindly allowed spinach instead of Canadian Bacon and I should mention that the spinach was super fresh and plentiful. The chopped chives are a nice touch, too.

The coffee cups are just one of the many attractive and thoughtful design details that abound throughout the hotel. Note, too, the crisp linen napkins and mercury glass candle lanterns.

The Beauport can readily accommodate large parties for breakfast, making the terrace an ideal location for business meetings.

Beautiful views of Pavilion Beach, the Dog Bar breakwater, and the working harbor are had from every vantage point. We were there on an overcast morning; imagine the light on a sunnier day. We loved watching the comings and going of the fishing boats.

BEAUPORT HOTEL RESTAURANT PREVIEW AND OPENING TONIGHT!

Last night I treated my husband Tom to a delicious dinner at the brand new Beauport Hotel’s fantastic restaurant “1606 at Beauport.” Usually he takes me, but I wanted to do something special for him. He helps me so much in myriad projects, but especially these past few months getting client’s gardens underway for the season. If you are looking for a special place to take a friend or loved one, along with a fresh and fabulous dining experience, head straight to 1606 at Beauport; you won’t disappointed!

The service was simply outstanding. Dorothy, the hostess was friendly and welcoming, as was our waitress Nicole. The nautically inspired decor reflects the heritage and spirit of Gloucester and each table appears to have a panoramic view of the water. For larger groups, the deep marine blue leather upholstered semi-circular banquettes looked wonderfully cozy and inviting.

Guests are invited to order from either menu, the fine dining menu and/or the tavern menu. Every entree and appetizer on both menus looked very enticing and it was very difficult to choose. Tom had the tomato soup (rich and flavorful of sun ripened tomatoes) and swordfish served on a bed of mushroom risotto and pesto crème fraĂ®che. The cut of swordfish was nearly two inches thick and cooked perfectly, browned on the outside and sweet and tender inside. I had the very super delicious organic field greens salad with maple glazed pecans and goat cheese and without a doubt, is a new favorite. My mussels were served in a tasty saffron broth–every bite, plump, juicy, and delicious.

I am crazy about crème brĂ»lĂ©e and try it where ever we go. Chef Bates Walsh’s does not disappoint, with a touch of expresso flavoring and the perfect ratio of custard to caramel! The exquisite food, welcoming staff, and lovely decor made for an utterly delightful evening.
