Beachfront Property is for the Birds
We were at the quiet end of Crane’s Beach last weekend and saw these little bird dwellings in the dunes. The area was fenced off to protect the Piping Plovers….which I obviously read all about in posts written about the plovers at Good Harbor Beach. I can’t lie though…I didn’t realize that they build homes in the sand like this. Must be true, correct?
As a friend said, it is very reminiscent of adobe homes in Mexico. Smart little birds.

First Gloucester Block Party of the Summer – July 15!
Gloucester’s Summer Block Parties have become a Cape Ann Classic, and the Cape Ann Chamber is excited to be presenting three Block Parties this summer in partnership with the City of Gloucester. The first one will be Saturday, July 15. From 6 PM 10 PM on Main Street, party-goers will enjoy al fresco dining, live outdoor entertainment, free children’s activities, and street performers for a fun night on the town. The Block Parties offer local shopping, food and non-stop fun. We hope to see you there!

Vesuvius is Burning
Mt. Vesuvius, the volcano whose massive eruption buried the ancient town of Pompeii in 79AD,is. burning again. This time it’s not due to a volcanic eruption,but instead, a massive wildfire has spread across its flanks. Access to the mountain has been prohibited and some areas have been evacuated.
