Friday it’s one show, with THREE musicians! Aidan Gittings Blues Band, Christian Smith, and Walshy will each perform a set up on The Cut stage! Doors are at 7pm. Show is at 7:45pm. This is an ALL AGES show! So feel free to bring the young music-lover in your life! Tickets are still available. We’ll also have live music in the restaurant starting at 8pm. No Cover.
Saturday Paul D’Angelo returns to The Cut stage, this time with Paul Gilligan. The Pauls will be treating us to a night of comedy that is not to be missed. We’ve added more seats, and Paul’s added new material. There are still some tickets available, so grab yours before they’re gone. Doors are at 6:30pm. Show is at 7pm. We’ll also have DJ Reel Drama in the restaurant from 9pm – Close. No Cover.

Goodnight, East Gloucester. I just moved from Magnolia to East Gloucester. While there are a couple of things I’ll miss about my old neighborhood, this new sweeping harbor view is pretty spectacular. I hope to spend lots of time watching the activity in the harbor. I’ve already had the opportunity to see both of my boys come and go in and out of the harbor while working on their respective boats.

For our final Margarita Monday of 2025, we stopped for lunch at Oliver’s Harbor on Main St which was open on Labor Day Monday. We were not disappointed. I love the lunch menu! I had the sausage sandwich and Jim had the eggplant sandwich. The margarita was served in a chilled ice-cold glass and was super refreshing. We always enjoy the atmosphere there and the friendly service. Cheers to Oliver’s!

Meet Alpaca! He’s a lovable goofball who lives for zoomies, scratches, morning tippy-tappy greetings, and snuggling. A perfect gentleman, he regularly sits regally with crossed paws and back legs stretched out in a splooting position. Life circumstances have led him to CAAA through no fault of his own, but he is ready for a new family and a second chance at life. Housebroken since day one, Paca’s a pro at indoor manners. He also makes a great car ride buddy, as he doesn’t get car sick and has taken many road trips in his life. He can be a little nervous around small children, but does great with older kids and would easily fit right in with a big family and some outdoor adventures. Smart as a whip, he’s got a whole trick list: sit, stay, down, paw, 360, “be sneaky” (crawl), “do yoga” (downward dog), and “security,” where he sits between your legs like a bodyguard!

Before the weekend, Ruby-throated Hummingbirds started stocking up for their migration.Like our Monarch Butterflies, hummingbirds winter in Mexico (and Central America).Welcoming ‘American Eagle,’ as schooners assemble for the Labor Day Schooner Festival.Tabor Academy’s ‘Tabor Boy’ docked at Maritime Gloucester, the evening before the race.Walking over to the I4C2 docks, Fitz Henry Lane was still painting his painting (wall mural).It was nice sunset light, looking across to Rocky Neck and Ocean Alliance’s Paint Factory.‘Adventure’ (center) was among the schooners tied up at I4C2.The place was hopping with live music at Blue Collar Lobster Co.On race Sunday, ‘American Eagle’ (beyond) and ‘Thomas E Lannon’ headed to the line.‘Denis Sullivan’ (Wisconsin) and the others had an escort flotilla during the “Parade of Sail.”Post-holiday, there are many juvenile (L) and adult Little Blue Herons on Niles Pond.This first-year youngster is experiencing a partial molt of non-flight body feathers.And here’s what his non-molting brethren still look like.

Friday, September 5, 2025, was a beautiful sunny day. The Sawyer Free Library Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was well attended. Thank you to the Cape Ann Youth Chorus talented kids. They were excellent.
