It’s all captured on film and am fortunate that the one evening that I could film at the carnival, the twilight could not have been prettier. Viva!

Saint Peter’s Fiesta Saturday & Sunday

A few photos from the beach on Saturday and the parade on Sunday.

WAITING TO WALK

If you were wondering why there were Greasy Pole Walkers seemingly everywhere Sunday afternoon, it’s because the boat to take them to the pole was a no show. The Walkers waited out the delay at Saint Peter’s Club before heading through the fair grounds to the beach. Next stop was the Greasy Pole Walker’s shrine, then to the dock. Back at the beach some Walkers decided to swim to the pole, when at long last a kindly yachtsman picked up the Walkers and gave them a lift to the pole.Sunday Greasy Pole Walkers -5 copyright Kim SmithSunday Greasy Pole Walkers -1copyright Kim Smith Kyle Barry Steve LeBlanc Sunday Greasy Pole Walkers copyright Kim Smith

Fiesta Sunday Whites!

Wearing white on Fiesta Sunday has been a Sicilian tradition honoring St. Peter for generations. Weeks before Fiesta mothers and grandmothers shop for their families Fiesta Whites! Hundreds of people wearing their Fiesta Whites lined the streets of Gloucester during yesterday’s procession around central Gloucester. I personally thank all who allowed me to snap of photos of their beautiful children. How blessed are we to live in a community with deep rooted tradition, and culture. VIVA St. Pietro & VIVA Gloucester!

Some props need to go to this walker.  A little help here….because I missed his name.  We all know the first round of the Greasy Pole is a “Courtesy Round” and the flag can not be grabbed.  But it is clear that victory would have been his if he were allowed to pull the flag down with him.  Actually….with his hand wrapped around the pole…I’m not sure how he was able to leave it up there.
