We hadn’t been to the Boat House on John Wise Ave in Essex for a while and impulsively decided to stop for lunch on a recent weekday. It was a good decision: we were greeted promptly and warmly; seated quickly in the bar area and offered menus. I ordered the Reuben, which was very thick with meat and messy. Jim got a veal parm sandwich which may not look great in this photo, but was quite tasty. The atmoshere is comfortable and the menu nicely varied. It was good to be back there again.

Melissa Francis submits: So many fans and so many memories…but Not done yet! On to Sweet Sixteen!

Meet Rockford! This guy is about 4 years old and is as handsome as can be! Rockford came to CAAA from Georgia, and was a bit shy when he first got here. With lots of love and playtime from volunteers and staff, this guy has really come out of his shell! This guy now boasts a friendly, happy-go-lucky attitude and is always excited to see the person coming to hang with him. He loves spending time with anyone who will show him a little love and attention. Rockford had a bit of rough luck when he still lived down south, and unfortunately the poor guy was hit by a car and left on the side of the road. Luckily though, a kind person stepped in and brought him to a vet where he could get treatment. Although he healed up well and doesn’t seem to be letting anything bother him, we are still listing Rockford as a special needs adoption, due to any conditions that may arise in the future as a result of previous injuries. Rockford is an anxious boy who isn’t a big fan of being confined, so a crate may not be the best idea for this cutie. He is looking for a family who understands his quirks as well as an active family who like to go on long walks or hikes everyday. Rockford is now a part of our Extended Stay Program, so we have lowered his adoption fee in hopes that he may find a home a bit easier!
If you’re interested in Rockford, you can apply for him at: capeannanimalaid.org/dogapp

Did you know Yella on the Water (Western Ave) is open on Mondays?? Very convenient for my Margarita Monday celebrations. I asked for any kind of fruit flavored margarita and Ewan suggested strawberry and there you go. A strawberry margarita at a table by the window along the boulevard to celebrate Margarita Monday! The sour mix was delightful and the service excellent. It won’t be our last visit!! Cheers!
