Shameless plug…

Since Fiesta is right around the corner (26 days to be exact!)  I thought someone might be looking for a momento or Father’s Day Gift for the Fiesta Fanatic in their lives.   I have a few sets of these left.  They are 4×4 coasters, with cork backs.   The set is $39.95.   If you are interested shoot me an email at shutterbythesea@comcast.net.    I’ll be working on putting up some Fiesta photographs on my website this weekend so if you want to check it out you can find my work at www.shutterbythesea.com.   All my printing is done locally by the awesome James and Anna at Cape Ann Giclee so check out their site as well!

Flag crew…gettin’ it done

Ringo Tarr and his flag crew were out bright and early on this beautiful morning getting the flags up on the Boulevard.   It was quicker work than past years because they can only put them on half the boulevard due to construction but it is certainly a beautiful sight!

Melodey’s garden

My youngest daughter Melodey asked if she could take over the planting of our humble garden this year and of course I said ABSOLUTELY!   So being “THE” garden planting week of the year, she and I ventured off to Wolf Hill to pick out some flowers to spruce up our yard!   Let’s hope she helps with the watering all summer too!!!

Glowing Tower at Beauport

Heading to work this morning I noticed the glowing copper roof on the tower of the Beauport gleaming through the foggy morning and of course I only had my iphone, but I still thought it made a great contrast to our Fisherman’s green patina! Photo May 24, 9 05 58 AMPhoto May 24, 9 04 32 AM

The Buoy House ~ Bayview

DSC_0354-2_HDR-Edit

I’ve always enjoyed the multitude of colors the buoys bring to this scene.   Last time I was there, it was just before sunset and I was chased away by a few raccoons surveying the area.  (Buoys made by my neighbor Greg Marchant, Ipswich Bay Wooden Buoys)

I’ve been a little jealous…

Last year I traveled to the Netherlands for my birthday and as a gift I received 50 tulip bulbs that I couldn’t wait to get into the ground and see them bloom this spring.   I’ve been a little jealous of everyone’s beautiful tulips coming up while I on the other hand have been fending away rabbits and rodents from eating my precious bulbs!!   FINALLY my tendered bulbs are blooming and although they are only a handful, seeing them brings me back to the tulip fields and Keukenhof Gardens!   There’s only a few varieties open but still 3 or 4 to go!   Loving my late bloomers!   (pardon the iPhone pics!)

Sun setting at Corliss Landing

BLM_8649-HDR-Edit-Edit

One of my favorite spots to put in my kayak is Corliss Landing.   It’s still a little chilly for me to be out paddling (although we just put the racks on my car for the boats so we are ready and waiting!)  The blustery night Monday DID make for a decent sunset.  Enjoy!

Fisherman’s Park

BLM_8582-Edit

Took a run up to Fisherman’s Park after work last night to see how the clouds looked over the city.   While I was there I met DJ with his daughter Isabella and nephew Drew who were having a blast sliding down the rock.    I’m not sure their mothers will be happy that they might need new pants but they were having fun!

Lift off

BLM_6798-Edit

I drive by the Mill River a zillion times a day and I can’t drive by without seeing if it’s low tide and maybe the Egrets are hanging out.    It’s awesome to see they are all back for the summer!

The Faces of The Empty Bowl

It was another successful Empty Bowl dinner last night with a record breaking 1136 people in attendance which made The Open Door $52,140.00!   Neil and I were there to shoot the event (a date night for us lol!) and had fun catching up with lots of familiar faces and meeting some new ones!  Enjoy the faces of The Empty Bowl!BLM_8555-Edit

Don’t forget the Empty Bowl Dinner tomorrow night

11212195_10204429203113454_5798336773353675632_o

Reminding everyone to stop by the Empty Bowl Dinner tomorrow night 4-8pm at the Crusieport!  Yours truly will be there photographing the event for The Open Door so bring your smiles, come pick out your favorite bowl and enjoy the company!

Join us for an evening of food and hospitality.

The meal is simple—soup, bread and a cookie. Guests can choose and keep a soup bowl handcrafted for this community event. The bowl goes home as an unspoken reminder that somewhere someone’s bowl is empty.

Extra parking is available at Harbor Beach with complimentary trolley service to and from the event site.

Tickets available at the door. $15 for adults and $10 for children under ten.

Empty Bowl events are held nationally to generate awareness concerning hunger and to raise money for local hunger-relief programs. Proceeds from this event will benefit The Open Door Summer Meals and Mobile Market programs.

I found the SUN in Lane’s Cove

BLM_8162-Edit

Had a nice Mother’s Day yesterday with all my girls home.  Funny part was it’s the first week in May and we had the fireplace going all day!   AND…. in case  anyone was wondering, that was the sun in the sky yesterday afternoon so of course I ended my Mother’s Day by catching the sunset at Lane’s Cove last night!  Hoping the rain is behind us and there are more nights like this to enjoy! (ok maybe it could be a little warmer lol!)

When The Fish Came First Launch Party

Neil and I stopped down to meet the author and pick up our copy of When The Fish Came First by Nubar Alexanian.  Tonight is the last night you can get the pre-sale price so come down for some wine, cheese and hear Nubar’s stories on creating the book.  He will be at the Rocky Neck Cultural Center until 9pm.

A little Vitamin D…

It’s been dreary since Sunday and it’s not looking good for another few days so I thought we could all use a little Vitamin D today via sunset from Lighthouse beach last year.   Soak it up!   Happy Hump day!

The best gifts….

The best gifts are the ones homemade with thought and love and I received one from my daughter Abbey this weekend.   It’s a simple thought really, but I love it and thought I’d share because I bet many Mom’s/cooks might enjoy getting one too!   They are herb containers with basil, rosemary and oregano and a hanging basket with the leftover plants and some parsley.   The decorative containers didn’t have any drainage so she added some pretty rocks on the bottom and moss on top.  Love, love, love it!   Thank you Abbey! ❤
