There goes my boy, heading South. With a fair amount of Wanderlust in his eyes and a clear love for the ocean in his veins, he left Cape Ann Marina this morning, went under that darn Cut Bridge, and left Gloucester Harbor to head south to Florida. It’ll take about 5 days… stopping along the way. From a new home base in Fort Lauderdale he’ll be working on this Viking, will do a fair amount of traveling, and will work towards his Captain’s License before making the trip back north and home to Gloucester in May or June. I’m proud of him for being true to himself, following what calls him, and taking this opportunity, but I’m going to miss him so much. Fair winds and calm seas, Thatch!

After some Sunday Funday I had dinner at The Burn with a friend. This fish sandwich was nothing short of massive….and delicious.

Now that I live in East Gloucester I spend a lot of time walking around Rocky Neck and the Railways. It really is such a unique place full of the coolest nooks and crannies.

Congratulations to this beautiful couple. I walked past this newly married couple as they patiently waited for a surprisingly high number of cars to stop going by so they could have some photos taken on the back shore last night.

The Rogers and I spotted this new rooftop addition while listening to some music yesterday across the street at the Blue Collar. It sits on top of the Cape Ann Savings Bank Building and none of us have ever noticed it before. Is it new? Can anyone ever tell us how long it has been there?

The Railways has always been one of my favorite places to take photos. These simple pieces of lumber made my day (clearly it doesn’t take much). They’re gorgeous.

Time to Reflect. I asked a friend to take some photos of my boys down at the Marine Railways the other day and I fooled around taking some of my own shots while there. This reflection in the puddle caught my eye.

I love Googans Galley in Essex. I’ve been finding myself dropping Finn off at Gloucester High School and then driving through Essex to stop for a scone in the morning on my way to work. It’s such a nice drive….and the pastries are phenomenal. They sell some really great items in their store as well….coolers, candles, gift cards, hats, coozies, mugs, and much more! #beawickedgoogan

Share your favorite summer photo! It is so hard for me to pick just one, but I’d love to see yours. We are so blessed to live where we do. Summer screams days on the boat, lobster bakes on the beach, drinks on decks (often with live music), sunsets, tons of laughs with friends, late night fires spent reminiscing…or enjoying the company of new friends. No matter what….I love summer. Summer has come to an end, but let’s keep it going a bit by sharing some favorite photos.

No school today so Finn was out early in the fog to put in a full day of work. Hopefully the fog lifts soon.

Name that port? If you follow GMG, you’ve at some point had to hear about my boys and how much time they spend on the water (I can’t help it….I’m insanely proud of how hard they both work). Thatcher recently had the opportunity to crew a trip that took him through a handful of New England harbors. While in each port he had the opportunity to explore a little bit.
