My View of Life on the Dock
We finished up Labor Day weekend with a quiet walk on the waterfront. And, yes, I found myself reflecting on what a beautiful weekend it had been.

Seagull Sentry. The harbor seemed extra quiet today after the bustling Schooner Festival and this lone seagull seemed to be surveying the scene.

I mean, really. What a beautiful event to grace our harbor. Much thanks to all of the volunteers, organizers, captains and crews, officials, etc who make this happen.

The schooners are beautiful day and night.

Who can tell me what this is?

I was happy to see the Adventure sailing past the Dog Bar breakwater last night.

We see it so often that sometimes we forget how pretty it is. Quintessential New England.

I had a really nice afternoon at Myopia yesterday for the Governor’s Cup. It really is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Polo takes place Sunday at 3:00 until October 3rd.

Governor’s Park is such a little gem in this beautiful city. Although, I happened to notice tonight that the sign may be misspelled. The expansive view lessens during the summer months when the trees are full and in bloom, but the park is extra beautiful. In the “off season” things aren’t so lush and pretty, but the view expands! So, either way it is a gorgeous spot to sit for a bit. Click on the post to see the view.

This red fish was no match for the stealthy and persistent seagull.

I’ve always loved this view of the end of Dog Bar breakwater.

A couple of friends and I had some fun with AC at the Beauport’s new bar in the 1606 Restaurant. Check out the restaurant and bar here: https://1606restaurant.com/ If you’re lucky enough to be there while AC is behind the bar you’re in for a treat.

While going by Thacher Island the other day I took some quick photos that demonstrate how its twin lighthouses line up to show due north and due south. You can see that, when heading exactly north or south, the lighthouses line up so that one is no longer visible.

We got an early start for a day of fishing yesterday.

We chartered an evening boat cruise last week on the Lady Jillian with Cape Ann Harbor Tours (ALWAYS a great night!) and I picked up some delicious shrimp from Turner’s to share onboard. It was definitely a hit.
Check out Turner’s menu here: https://www.turners-seafood.com/gloucester-market/

We spent part of last night sitting under the Bourne Bridge on the Cape Cod Canal watching the boats go by. Click on the post to see some of the boats.

Pretty much no matter the weather a trip past Brant Point Light is always beautiful

The hydrangeas on Nantucket are always so huge and beautiful

We spent the night in Boston on Sunday after going to the Zac Brown Band Concert at Fenway Park. We had lunch at The Salty Dog, checked into the Bostonian Hotel, went to Cisco Brewery in the Seaport, and then took an Uber over to Kenmore Square for the show. Here is the view that greeted us upon arriving back to our room late at night.

While I’d prefer it be a beach day, I always kind of get a kick out of how happy the seagulls are to have the beach to themselves when the weather keeps everyone else at home. See them all lined up at the water’s edge?
