My View of Life on the Dock
The sun finally came out and it was nice to take a drive around the cape.

My son is like me in that he likes to go for drives and find places to explore and take photos. I never seem to find time to do it these days, but I love when he sends me photos.

I’ll get by with a little help from my friends. Water with the Thirsty Seagull, yogurt with the Bluefin Blowout, and a nice large coffee with GMG. I’ve got this.

Yes, please. This espresso martini at Tonno was the perfect way to cap off a little bit of Sunday Funday.

Someone has been dying to go ice fishing and finally had the opportunity last weekend. He spent several hours last Friday on the ice and caught some nice pickerel. The next morning he was up at 6:30 am and landed this nice bass. Bring on winter, I guess.

Did you know that Dan King plays each Wednesday at the Rhumb Line with a spotlight guest? This Wednesday, Dan King invites Jay Aptt to join him. Kitchen is open and the live music is 6:00-9:00. Give yourself a nice live music bump to get through the rest of the week! And maybe a bowl of French Onion Soup and a beverage as well.

Every day something catches my eye while driving around our city that simply says, “Gloucester.” The other day it was these…..and, coincidentally, I noticed later that the name “Gloucester Marine” can be seen in the photo as well.

My boys and I have been renting a beautiful single family home for 3.5 years, but the owner is planning on selling this spring. I am looking for a 3-bedroom home to rent year-round if you know of anything! I know GMG has some pretty faithful resources! I’m hoping that spreading the word will help.
Budget: $2800 (ish). I have great references.

Dessert Board at Tonno? Yes, please. Friends and I made some time to connect over Espresso Martinis and the dessert board at Tonno. Because, why not?

Seven of us had brunch at CK Pearl in Essex over the weekend to celebrate two birthdays. While I have been known to sit at the bar for a cocktail and some mussels or to sit outside during the summer, I have never been for breakfast. My huevos rancheros were delicious. We shared some french toast as a breakfast appetizer and had some bloody marys, mimosas, and/or other cocktails as well. Everything was delicious!
Huevos Rancheros: cheesy jalapeno black bean dip, cheddar, crispy tortilla, pico de gallo, avocado
French Toast: homemade carrot bread, walnuts, whipped mascarpone, honey drizzle

I brought our Shut the Box game to the Amvets Club to donate it to the game cabinet, played with some friends, lost several rounds, and got the worst score mathematically possible…. a 53 ….. but, had lots of laughs… so, I’ll call it a win.

We took our Christmas tree to a home in Essex and the goats LOVED it. Up-cycling at its best.

I believe you only have a few more days to get yourself over to The Lobster at 115 East Main Street in Gloucester before they close for the winter. They will be closed for Friday dinner for a private party but are open today 11:30-8:30, tomorrow for lunch from 11:30-4:00, and then all weekend for both lunch and dinner. I had the baked haddock with a caesar salad and some truffle fries and every bite of it was tremendous. https://www.thelobsterofgloucester.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=wix_google_business_profile&utm_campaign=4853144082179927035

There is always something interesting to see at the railways in Rocky Neck.

A Day at the Office. I sat and watched the activity on the State Fish Pier the other day. So much to always get done to tend to the vessels and gear. It was a reminder on an extra foggy day of just how hard the work can be. Safe trips, everyone.

Works of art. I recently noticed these planters on the boulevard on either side of the Fisherman Statue. I’m certain someone has probably written about them before, but they are phenomenal! I am excited to learn more about them.

Heading out on a foggy December morning.

it was a foggy day for the Man at the Wheel to watch over the harbor.

Minglewood does a Burger and a Beer Night combo for just $20 on Thursdays. Here’s mine from last week. It was phenomenal! If on Facebook, click here to learn more.
