Reed between the lines….if these can be considered reeds. There’s this stretch of road, off the beaten path in Byfield, that always catches my eye.

Music this week at the Rhumb Line. As always, live music 7 days per week…9 shows in all. The Rhumb Line is at 40 Railroad Ave in Gloucester…conveniently located right across from the train station if you are coming from out of town.

In thinking of a new year and a new budget, if you only had enough “extra” cash flow each week/month to splurge on one….which one would it be?
A. Shopping (clothes, toys, nonessentials, luxury items)
B. Entertainment (dining out, drinks with friends, concerts, movies, etc)
C. Travel

Fishing hole.

When life gives you blackberries….. you make delicious blackberry smash bourbon drinks. The bartender at Mile Marker 1 nailed this delicious cocktail. We only had time for one quick drink and a really wonderful beet salad before heading off to see the Bob Marley: One Love movie (also pretty good) and I’m so glad we made a point to stop by MM1.

I had the Marinated Haddock with Molho Vilao last night at the Azorean and it was nothing short of delicious!

Goose Cove is always a favorite place for a winter walk.

Props

All washed up. It’s always sad for lobstermen to lose gear, but it sometimes makes for a pretty picture. Lots of little doggie footprints from pups who had been investigating the scene.

Single Swan.

Birds of a feather…. I caught this gaggle of geese as they flew in formation over Plum Island the other morning.

It’s hard not to stop, pull over, and enjoy the view when things are as pretty as this. The super warm temperatures didn’t hurt either. We took a moment to reflect….on this reflection.

The sun finally came out and it was nice to take a drive around the cape.

My son is like me in that he likes to go for drives and find places to explore and take photos. I never seem to find time to do it these days, but I love when he sends me photos.

I’ll get by with a little help from my friends. Water with the Thirsty Seagull, yogurt with the Bluefin Blowout, and a nice large coffee with GMG. I’ve got this.

Yes, please. This espresso martini at Tonno was the perfect way to cap off a little bit of Sunday Funday.

Someone has been dying to go ice fishing and finally had the opportunity last weekend. He spent several hours last Friday on the ice and caught some nice pickerel. The next morning he was up at 6:30 am and landed this nice bass. Bring on winter, I guess.

Did you know that Dan King plays each Wednesday at the Rhumb Line with a spotlight guest? This Wednesday, Dan King invites Jay Aptt to join him. Kitchen is open and the live music is 6:00-9:00. Give yourself a nice live music bump to get through the rest of the week! And maybe a bowl of French Onion Soup and a beverage as well.

Every day something catches my eye while driving around our city that simply says, “Gloucester.” The other day it was these…..and, coincidentally, I noticed later that the name “Gloucester Marine” can be seen in the photo as well.

My boys and I have been renting a beautiful single family home for 3.5 years, but the owner is planning on selling this spring. I am looking for a 3-bedroom home to rent year-round if you know of anything! I know GMG has some pretty faithful resources! I’m hoping that spreading the word will help.
Budget: $2800 (ish). I have great references.
