Over the Bridge at the Blackburn Brewfest

The weather might not have been 100% but Over the Bridge sure was. Check them out at @OTBTUNES or https://otbtunes.com/ The whole Brewfest was fantastic. If you didn’t attend this year or if you had tickets and the weather kept you away, make a point to go next year. It’s really a fantastic event. More photos to come later.

WHich Way?

Which way? I love these signs….almost as much as I love sitting on the deck next to them listening to music with friends. A few of us had an impromptu night out at Lobsta’ Land the other day and I found myself wondering where I would go if able….

Sandbar

The sandbar that extends out from Wingaersheek Beach into Ipswich Bay is pretty phenomenal. It has been years since I have walked on it, but it always surprises me just how far it extends into the bay as I go by on boats. It also serves as a great example of why boaters need to know how to navigate properly as running aground there could be quite easy. Likewise, for beachgoers, knowing when the tide is rising and when to head back to dry sand is important too. Monday morning public service announcement.

Hydrofoil

I saw this guy zipping around the Annisquam River on his Hydrofoil board the other day. He made it look fairly easy although I’m certain there must be quite the learning curve to remain so steady. Hydrofoils deflect the flow of water downwards…which then exerts a force upwards on the board. Once it picks up speed the board then lifts out of the water. Fun to watch….no doubt fun to ride as well.

Another Giant Check written to the Alzheimer’s Association from the Bluefin Blowout

Last night, at the Beauport Hotel, another giant check was presented to the Alzheimer’s Association from this year’s Bluefin Blowout. This year’s check was for a staggering $500,000….bringing the total raised by this fantastic event to over $2.2 million since the tournament’s inception. Those who give gather.

Just Waiting on Some Friends

Just waiting on some friends. Our own beautiful resident schooners will soon be joined by many others as this year’s Schooner Festival gets underway. One of my favorite scenes of the year is watching the harbor come alive with massive sails, our fishing fleet, pleasure boats, commercial vessels, etc. Watching the boats ebb and flow throughout the harbor is a spectacle not to be missed.

Schooner Thomas E. Lannon

There’s still some summer left! Have you sailed on the Schooner Thomas E. Lannon yet. Time and time again many of us at GMG tell you that a trip on the Lannon is one of our favorite summer activities. I had the chance to take another sail on Wednesday night with friends. Added bonuses were music with Chris + Joe (Chris Langathianos and Joe Wilkins), beautiful weather….and a rainbow.
