Side Street Gallery invites art lovers, enthusiasts, and the public to a captivating evening featuring the work of Vivien Tapsoba. The gallery will host the opening of Tapsoba’s works along with an insightful talk with the artist. Located on historic Rocky Neck, right on Gloucester’s working waterfront, this event will showcase Tapsoba’s latest collection and provide a unique opportunity for visitors to meet the artist behind the work while also exploring the hidden treasures of Side Street Gallery. Our gallery’s intimate atmosphere will allow attendees to explore Tapsoba’s distinctive approach to visual storytelling, while learning more about his creative process and the inspiration behind his pieces.
Kindness brews community—and it could earn someone a mug!
The City of Gloucester is proud to launch a new Kindness Campaign encouraging residents to share meaningful acts of kindness happening across the community. From July 1 through October 31, 2025, residents are invited to submit stories about thoughtful gestures they’ve witnessed or experienced—particularly those that reflect Gloucester’s long-standing tradition of neighbors helping neighbors.
Stories will be shared and highlighted publicly. The person who carried out the kind act will be recognized with a special mug featuring the campaign’s message: “Kindness is the flag we all reach for.”
“Our goal is to shine a light on the quiet, generous moments that often go unseen, but truly define who we are as a community,” said Mayor Greg Verga. “Whether it’s a helping hand, a kind word, or a supportive gesture, these stories deserve to be shared.”
Submissions will be accepted through October 31, 2025.
The Gloucester Rotary will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on Saturday, August 16, 2025, 7:30 am to 11:00 am in Stage Fort Park, located on Hough Avenue in Gloucester, MA. This popular event takes place concurrently with the Gloucester Waterfront Festival, which is sponsored by the Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce and is held in Stage Fort Park on Saturday-Sunday, August 16-17.
A special free parking area is available for Pancake Breakfast attendees.
Tickets will also be available on the morning of the breakfast.
Proceeds from the Pancake Breakfast will benefit local and international projects of the Gloucester Rotary.

Gloucester, MA – July 10, 2025 – Discover Gloucester is thrilled to announce the return of Culture Splash, now in its fifth year, running Thursdays through August 28, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. This beloved summer series invites residents and visitors alike to dive into Gloucester’s dynamic arts scene and storied seafaring heritage with a host of free events—from live music on the waterfront and contemporary dance showcases to twilight film screenings, pop‑up gallery talks, hands‑on artist demonstrations, and more.
Highlights for 2025 include:
New live painting demos aboard the complimentary harbor shuttle, thanks to the Rocky Neck Art Colony.
Live music on both sides of the harbor, including the Harbor Loop Concert Series and music at the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck.
The 2nd Annual Paint Out on Rocky Neck on August 14, a vibrant collaboration between Cape Ann Plein Air, Rocky Neck Art Colony, and Art Haven. Watch artists bring the Neck to life with brushstrokes and color!

Free third Thursday Music Therapy nights at The Cut – Stay in Harbortown for after hours at The Cut with free shows the third Thursday of the month.
During Culture Splash, Gloucester’s two state‐designated cultural districts—Rocky Neck and Harbortown—are linked by a free water shuttle each Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. by Cape Ann Harbor Tours. This seamless connection lets “Splashers” explore more than 50 local organizations and individual artists showcasing everything from public art to concerts and more.
“Year after year, Culture Splash brings together our city’s creative community in a way that’s both inspiring and accessible,” said Mayor Greg Verga. “I’m proud to see Gloucester’s cultural districts collaborate so effectively—this series shines a spotlight on our hometown talent, supports small businesses, and gives everyone a reason to celebrate life on America’s Oldest Seaport.”
