Passive House at Appleton Farms

Passive House at Appleton Farms
When it came time for Appleton Farms to renovate their farmhouse, they wanted to carry the same principle they use in their farming to the work on their buildings. To do that, one of the first questions they asked themselves was: what is sustainability to me?

I had no idea remote control golf bags were A Thing. This leads me to a question for golfers…

Also are there caddies any more? I didn’t see any yesterday afternoon but maybe they’re around on the weekends? I was never a caddy at Bass rocks growing up because I was working at the dock but what a great job for a young kid. Incredible education just walking around with heavy hitters on the golf course just gleaning intel about life in general.

BACH VIOLIN SERIES CONTINUES IN ANNISQUAM

The Annisquam Village Church presents violinist Scott Moore in the second of a three-part series of Bach Sonatas and Partitas this Sunday, April 24 at 3 PM. Moore, the newly appointed Artist-in-Residence at the Village Church, has already won a following for his Bach playing (not to mention a fan-base built on his performances in bluegrass, folk, rock, and other idioms). AVC Music Director, Kathleen Adams adds, “These brilliant works demand technical virtuosity, yes, and Scott has that in spades, but his playing here reaches into the senses and emotions in a way that one can rarely experience. It’s a fusion of Bach with time and place ….not reproducible.”
The historic Annisquam Village Church provides the ideal acoustic for chamber music, combining antique intimacy with its unique resonance. After the first concert of the series, an audience member exclaimed “He could play in Carnegie Hall!” Another replied, “Yes, but it sounds best here!” Located at the head of Lobster Cove at 820 Washington Street (corner of Washington and Leonard streets) the 1830’s clapboard building was recently renovated, with new facilities for those with disabilities, including a ‘lift’ to the Cove Room where a reception follows the concert. All are welcome! Donations gratefully accepted.
The third (and final) concert in the Bach series takes place May 22.

In 2019, Nicole was nominated for a Grammy alongside her husband, renowned drummer and bandleader Dan Pugach, for their arrangement and performance of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene.” In recognition of her talents, Nicole has won a litany of other awards, including the New York City Songwriting Competition Coffee Music Project (2016), the Herb Alpert ASCAP Young Composer Award (2014), and the Gold Medal, Ben Tucker Jazz Award, People’s Choice, and Johnny Mercer Award in the National American Traditions Vocal Competition.
