Meet Marty and Barbara Luster and hear their story about how it came to be that they moved to Gloucester after 34 years in the same house in Ithaca NY
Marty’s Son Brian writes:
Marty Luster: April 4, 1942–November 28, 2025

Hello. This is Brian Luster, Marty Luster’s son. I’m writing to let you know that Marty passed away on November 28 after a long illness. He died peacefully after celebrating a final Thanksgiving with his family. My mom, Barbara, was with him until the end.
In October 2009 I rode my motorcycle from Brooklyn, NY, to meet my dad for a weekend visit to Gloucester. We stayed in a room above the Crow’s Nest. It was a cold, wet weekend, and we spent much of it driving around the area. Gloucester and Joey worked their charm, and by Sunday, Dad decided he wanted to move there. And he and Mom did!
Dad found his people in Gloucester and was thrilled to be part of GMG. He loved showing off Gloucester to out-of-town guests, always going to the Boulevard and the back shore with a camera (or two or three). And he truly enjoyed making music with his acoustic jam.
Thank you to GMG and Gloucester for making my parents feel so welcome and for giving them a place to call home.
This picture is of Mom and Dad on their sixtieth wedding anniversary in 2024.
The food is so delicious, full of flavor and fresh. The service is excellent and the people are so friendly.
Great to have this option when you’ve gone to the same joints over and over.

Jun 26, 2025 — “Boston drivers are 244% more likely to crash than average, making it the riskiest city in Allstate’s Best Drivers Report.”

GMG Jim and I traveled to Colorado last week to celebrate a family wedding. We hadn’t taken a vacation this year so we (I) added a few days to the trip so we could explore a bit. We stayed in Fairplay which is not the least bit urban but the people were friendly and the vibe was relaxing. We explored the area (BEAUTIFUL) but saw almost no wildlife (BOO). It took me several days to adapt somewhat to the change in altitude. Let’s just say it wasn’t Jimmy’s good looks that left me breathless.
Then we traveled to Buena Vista for the wedding which has a totally different vibe than either Cape Ann or Fairplay. It’s lovely there as well as you can see in these photos but we are very glad to be safe back at sea level or below here in our beloved Gloucester. It’s good to get away now and again to remind you of the blessings you have at home.
