Prepare for some flashbacks as CAST brings Shakespeare’s “The Two Gentlemen of Verona” into the new millennium! This rom-com remix, directed by Billy Lewand, features secret crushes, a slacker dog, arrogant club DJs, mistaken identities, and fashion faux pas.

Lifelong BFFs, Valentine and Proteus, are parted when Valentine goes to Milan to seek his fortune. Although previously skeptical of love, Valentine immediately falls for Sylvia, the Duke of Milan’s daughter. Meanwhile, back in Verona, Valentine’s father orders Proteus to leave his girlfriend, Julia, and go to Milan to retrieve Valentine. Proteus and Valentine’s friendship is put to the test when Proteus also falls in love with Valentine’s fiancé Sylvia! Things really get complicated when Julia, longing for Proteus, throws on a boy disguise, and chases Proteus to Milan to win him back and prove her love is the real deal.

CAST’s “The Two Gentlemen of Verona” directed by Billy Lewand, features seasoned actors, community players, and those making their stage debut including: Alexis Armstrong, Mikayla Bishop, Andrew Bove, Olivia Gale, Djessy Kungu, Kevin Lee, Ryan Natcharian, Ariana Ortmann, Ian Owens, Gerard Roy, Carl Schultz, Stuart Siegel, and Ashley Skeffington.

The Cape Ann Shakespeare Troupe, a non-profit community theatre group formed in 2008, is devoted to bringing the works of Shakespeare and other notable playwrights to Cape Ann audiences.
