Dear Friends, Family, and Investors:
We’re thrilled to share that our first market-ready EV charger (the “Unit”) is now live and operating in the field.
This round was raised with a clear goal: build and deploy our first commercial unit. We’re proud to say we’ve done exactly that—and early performance is exceeding expectations.
The system is now fully operational outside our Las Cruces facility, delivering clean, solar-powered EV charging. This milestone marks our transition from development to real-world deployment, and validates both our technology and the belief you placed in us.
EV Charger Highlights
- 80 kWh battery powering one Level 2 Type 1 (J1772) connector – future models will feature two North American Charging Standard (NACS) connectors
- 8 kW+ charging rate, delivering up to 42 miles of range per hour of charge – up 28% more charging power than our closest competitor
- Dual-axis, single-motor solar panel tracker capturing up to 62% more energy than fixed panels
- 240V outlet for e-bikes and light EVs
- Ability to combine solar and battery power for charging
How It’s Performing
Our Unit has met its initial performance targets and given us a clear path to unlock even greater capability in the next-generation system:
- Drawing directly from the sun, with supplemental battery input, the unit successfully achieved our original 8 kW charging rate benchmark. Ongoing testing has revealed optimization opportunities that could push this to 12 kW.
- We’re operating at up to 80% of the 80 kWh battery’s capacity using a C2 discharge rate lithium battery—providing strong baseline performance and valuable data to optimize power delivery and efficiency.
- The system continues to run reliably in real-world conditions, and the data we’ve gathered is already informing upgrades to maximize throughput and durability.
The unit will soon move to its first public site at New Mexico State University’s Arrowhead Center, where it will provide charging for students and faculty. The pilot is expected to begin by the end of the summer, with success measured by usage, uptime, and the potential to unlock a formal purchase conversation—NMSU currently has no EV chargers on campus.
What This Round Enabled
Your investment helped us:
- Build and deploy a working EV
- Validate our solar-tracker design in the field
- Prepare for the pilot run and lay the groundwork for manufacturing
We’ve remained lean and resourceful, stretching every dollar to get us to this point.
What’s Next
- Launch the Arrowhead Center pilot
- Design validation and 3rd party review to prepare for scaled production
- Advance conversations with municipalities, defense-related microgrid projects, and regional property owners
- Participate in SigmaBlox, an accelerator focused on military sales preparedness, at the end of July
- Release of The Blox, the entrepreneurship docuseries we filmed last July, expected this summer
We’re also starting to explore licensing and commercialization opportunities for our patented turret system—a unique line of value we believe has standalone potential.
How You Can Accelerate Our Next Phase
Now that the Unit is live, we’re entering a phase where the right conversations could move us from validation to traction. If you’re connected to any of the following, we’d love an introduction:
- New Mexico-based organizations pursuing EV infrastructure — including municipalities, developers, and corporate campuses exploring EV mobility solutions
- Defense or microgrid programs — our off-grid tech is a strong fit for resilient, mobile charging infrastructure
- Hardware IP licensing experts — we’re beginning to explore commercialization pathways for our patented turret system
A warm intro, or even a quick reply with a name, would go a long way.
Looking Ahead
Our focus now is proving demand and securing our first sale or contract. That traction will be the catalyst for our next fundraising round, likely later this year. If you’re interested in staying close or considering re-upping when the time comes, we’d be happy to keep the conversation going.
Thanks again for backing us at the beginning. We’ve delivered on our first goal. Now we’re building momentum.
With gratitude,
The Sunnoo Team
