The signup fee for this year will be $30.00.

All walkers need to fill out a release form when signing up.

Cape Ann Community Foundation’s June 5 Candlepins for a Cause EventWill Spotlight Support for Non-Profit Organizations, Programs

The Cape Ann Community Foundation (CACF) will celebrate its support for the region’s non-profit organizations and programs with its second annual Candlepins for a Cause fundraiser event at Cape Ann Lanes on June 5.

That evening, from 5:30-7:30 pm, the Foundation will celebrate recipients of its 2025 grants. Since its inception in 2015, the foundation has awarded more than 50 grants totalling over $100,000 to Cape Ann non-profit and community organizations. This year, the Foundation received a record number of grant applications during the April proposal submission period. The Foundation selected nine recipients from across Cape Ann, representing a range of services.

At the June 5 event, CACF grant recipients and friends of the Foundation will come together to spotlight CACF support for community organizations and programs and promote adoption of the Cape Ann license plates, which play a key role in this work by generating funds for Foundation grants. The sale of Cape Ann license plates and direct donations to CACF make the Foundation grants possible.

Anyone interested in forming a team is asked to make a $200 donation for a team of six bowlers. Individual bowlers can join for a $35 donation to the Foundation.  Those who’d like to attend the event and cheer on the bowlers – and support the Foundation – can do so with a $20 donation.

Bowlers will compete for prizes for best team score and best individual blowers.

Teams, individual bowlers and other attendees can register by clicking on the event link on the Cape Ann Community Foundation website, www.lovecapeann.com.

“The support we generate with Candlepins for a Cause – along with the revenue from Cape Ann license plate sales and direct donations to the Foundation – helps us assist our region’s non-profit and community organizations,” said CACF Co-Chair Britta Cahoon.

“The Candlepins for a Cause fundraiser will be a fun way to help the Foundation continue its work while honoring the organizations that serve the Cape Ann community,” said  Tony Sapienza, CACF Co-Chair.

CACF held its first-ever Candlepins for a Cause event in June 2024, and the fundraiser was a sell-out. The Foundation also held a successful virtual golf Driving for Dollars fundraiser at Harbor 9 Golf in February, spotlighting the Cape Ann license plate.

Walk To Support Huntington’s Disease sufferers Coming Up

June 7 will be the date for to Walk for Hope to support sufferers of Huntington’s Disease and Boston is the location but you can help by donating. This disease is devastating and is affecting at least one set of Gloucester grandparents. They have asked that I share this information with you:

Parking Tips For Visitors

Memorial Day weekend is nearly upon us and many visitors are expected over the course of the summer and fall months. For those who may not be aware, here are some parking tips (I am brushing up my spiel for the Visitor Center). If you plan to park at Stage Fort Park, Wingaersheek or Good Harbor Beach you will need to reserve your parking in advance using the Blinkay app. I am sharing an image of what it looks like in the App store (also available for Android). **”In advance** only requires that you purchase parking prior to entering**

Most visitors should be aware that most city parking is paid parking. You MAY find it easier to use the Flowbird app than be prepared to use the kiosks available. You might prefer the kiosks but be prepared with you license plate numbers. An image from the App store is also shown here. Welcome to Gloucester and stop by the Welcome Center at Stage Fort Park for additional tips starting Fri May 23.
