| A Few Short Weeks Left! We are coming to the end of Savour’s run. Things have moved along faster than expected, thanks to the incredible support of our customers who have been purchasing cases of their favorites and ordering others with the holiday season in mind. We don’t know for sure when our license will transfer to the new owner, but it could happen anytime. So, we are planning to wrap everything up with a closing date of Saturday, October 19 at 6 pm. This Saturday we will taste out a few classic cheese and wine combinations: Gewurztraminer with Lamb Chopper sheep’s milk cheese and Tawny Port with Rogue River Smokey blue. These combinations sing! We are continuing our sale with discounts of 10 – 15%! Also remember, you will get that same discount on anything you buy with your wine, including beer, cheese, pantry items, and wine tools! I know of no other business that does this, so take advantage of this while you can. That extra perk is important because we just got a cheese order in with many of your favorites: Delice de Bourgogne brie, Fromager d’ Affinois, Georgian Stilton, Rogue River Smokey Blue, Cambozola Black Label, Kaltbach Creamy Swiss and 3 classics from Cypress Grove in California: Midnight Moon, Lamb Chopper and Humboldt Fog – fresh cut and ready to go! We have plenty of olives (I made some marinated) as well as cured meats and nuts for your charcuterie plates. AND – I picked up 4 cases of Boulart Bakery baguettes you buy frozen and cook for 10 minutes with a taste like fresh-baked bread. We have lots of crackers, jams, chocolate and the best olive oil and balsamic vinegar in bulk (at a great price)! The fridge is full of New England brewery beers – from Cambridge “Lamplighter” to Maine “Lunch” and Rockport “Jetty Juice.” All that will be discounted at the same rate as your wine, when you purchase 6 bottles of wine or more! Sale! | Topaz is the hidden gem her family needed. |
| A 2024 mid-year report published by Shelter Animals Count cites a 4% nationwide decline in dog adoptions compared to 2023. Length of stays are also rising, resulting in growing populations and an ongoing capacity crisis, and Cape Ann Animal Aid is no exception to these troubling trends. Topaz, a 4-year-old purebred Portuguese Podengo, was just one local animal of the many we cared for this year. She was the 6th dog taken by Animal Control from the same breeder, and she arrived in the same unenthusiastic, unsure, and untrusting state as those that came before her. As a shy, medium breed adult dog, her chances of finding a home quickly had the odds working against her. It took about 2 months for someone to come along willing to take on the challenge. However, challenges have extra rewards, and once these special animals find a home, we can see that they are so dearly cherished. |
![]() | Topaz’s adopter shares: “She is doing great, we love her so much. She’s such a fun and silly girl. She absolutely loves the dog park at Stage Fort Park and the beach. She has adjusted to the big change so well and she’s such a great addition to our family. Her cage is still a comfort to her especially when I’m at work but she loves to run around in the yard and she’s so fast. She also loves her new and old toys and throwing them to me.” |
| We need your help now more than ever. Your support can make a significant difference in our ability to manage this influx and continue our mission. Please consider making a donation to help us meet this growing demand and provide the love and care every animal deserves. |

All tucked in for the night. So much “Gloucester” in this scene. I love our waterfront so much.

Here are some views of Good Harbor Beach on the last day before dogs are allowed back! It was a beautiful fall day. I know many of you are away from your favorite place on earth so I thought you might enjoy these.
