Hi Joey,
I liked seeing your posts about Jon Sarkin, especially the ones from your archives. I mentioned your quote to the Gloucester Times in this tribute about Jon: https://open.substack.com/pub/palateandpalette/p/lessons-from-jon-sarkin-1953-2024?r=cioli&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
Hope you are well.

Morning Walk…

Hi, Friends and Family,
One of my drawings, Stringing Good Harbor, will be part of Jane Deering’s August show in downtown Gloucester. The show is called “Lines of Thought” (August 1-25). https://www.janedeeringgallery.com/lines-of-thought-contemporary-women-artists-draw
When shown in its entirety, Stringing Good Harbor is a 30-foot-long drawing using a piece of string the length of Good Harbor Beach, one of my favorite spots in Gloucester. Depending on the tide, the beach is about 2000’ long. Six of the drawing’s nine panels will be at JDG, along with a nine-foot “thumbnail” to show the whole image. Technically the drawing is a print, made with string, Knox gelatin, and ink.

In addition to her keen curatorial eye, Jane believes in building community. With roots in Gloucester, she also has a gallery presence in Santa Barbara, London, and Concord, MA. Previously I did two installations at JDG@The Shed – one showing Stringing Good Harbor in its full length, and a later installation for a different project, Beautiful Just the Way You Are.
Happy Summer!
Lillian

Things along the river. I’ve always loved going down the Annisquam. There’s always so much to see.

Playboy bunny? In Magnolia? On a Tuesday?

95 East Main St, let me know if you’d like some.

It’s not too late to register for the Cape Ann Challenge PHRF sailboat race from Annisquam to Eastern Point. The race takes place on Saturday, July 27th, with the warning signal no earlier than 11:55 AM. The start line will be in the vicinity of the Annisquam bell buoy [RW “AR” Mo (A)]. On the evening of Friday July 26th, starting at 5:30 PM an informal reception will be held for the competitors at the Annisquam Yacht Club (AYC), and a skippers meeting at 6PM. This is a great way to spend a Saturday out on the water with friends and take in beautiful Cape Ann via circum navigation. Moorings are available to competitors on a first come, first served basis at AYC and Eastern Point Yacht Club (EPYC) for the Friday before and night of the race. The Notice of Race (NOR) and Sailing Instructions can all be found on the Regatta Man website.
I hope you consider joining us on Saturday!
