About the Artist: Kate Nordstrom is from mid-coast Maine, a place of varied landscapes and arresting beauty. She hascreated a vocabulary of familiar symbols which inhabit her work. When words fail to express her thoughts, they might manifest in her art.
She does not draw from photos. Her process is rendered through improvised imagination. Willowy poppies share the canvas with joyful songbirds and yellow houses. Midnight crows and shark fish might appear together or be a single subject in a composition. A rabbit leaps along the arc of a starry night. A dose of whimsy, pronounced color and unexpected objects skip in and out of compositions with the only aim to delight and ignite curiosity.
About the Gallery:
Located in Gloucester’s Rocky Neck Art Colony, Sidestreet Gallery finds and represents highly skilled contemporary craft, folk and fine artists from around the world both celebrated and undiscovered. In addition to paintings Side Street is the home of Hughes Bosca’s unusual fine 18K BOLD Gold jewelry.

Happy July 4th weekend!
After a hectic weekend of parties, parades, and fireworks, being out on a Taste Glocester tour sounds like the perfect way to keep the fun going!
We’re having an awesome Taste Gloucester tour 11:30am – 2:00pm today and we still have room. With four new tour guides and a great crew of helpers for our large groups, we’re planning new tours and special events, Cape Ann Foodie Tours has a multitude of activities to offer visitors as well as locals!
If you have people interested in going with us today, have them call us and we’ll give them a 10% discount, plus waive the service fee!
And, I may steal the idea from Rockport’s Lawn Chair Drill Team group in the parade and have a tour sometime where guests bring lawn or beach chairs. Thought they were a riot!
Enjoy and we’d love to host one of your employees on a tour sometime soon, so that they can let your guests know all about them!
Kind regards,CindyP.S. Tours go out Rain or Shine – Which makes them the perfect choice for a day like today!

We were fortunate enough to be invited to take a boat ride with our friends Susan and Leo earlier this week. It was a perfect day and we headed to Beverly/Salem/Marblehead. All of this is new for us so we appreciated the extra knowledge offered by both Susan and Leo about these areas as seen from the water. In the Salem area, we got to see the schooner Fame as well as the When and If out sailing which we considered a big bonus.
To our surprise, the When and If followed us to our own Gloucester Harbor for a little spin around just as Isabella, Ardelle and Thomas E. Lannon set sail for their 6 PM sails and Tuesday weekly schooner challenge. It was a spectacular sight and a wondrous surprise! A schooner mini fest! I was taken aback as I did not plan for this and didn’t have quite the right gear with me, but here are some memories to share.

Sista Felicia, Barry and Ed Collard Crushed it with help from Everyone including Jeremy Frost and a ton of others. This video from Craig Kimberley catches the spirit!
