Beautiful Beach Day
So grateful that I can go to the beach after work. The ocean temperature is a good 58 degrees. Not bad for a quick swim.
Bowling for Breath
As many of you have seen on Facebook Kathy Ernest is a double lung transplant recipient. She is also our very own BSide’s mom. Kathy and her family and friends raised thousands of dollars to help medical costs back in 2020 prior to her surgery through an organization that was to help patients with costs.
In April 2024 that organization closed abruptly with no notice to its patients and leaving money that was donated to patients unaccounted for.
Kathy is now facing Lung and Kidney failure and now facing more medical costs.
BSide and her family are now faced with fundraising the money they lost all over again. With that a Bowling Tournament is being held on June 23rd at Cape Ann Lanes from 5-7pm to help raise funds for Kathy.
If interested, you can enter “Bowling for Breath” on Facebook or TeamKathyGal for more information.

2024 Season Opening of the Annisquam Exchange
Hi Joey, I sent you some photos of my last woodcarving workshop. Here is one I forgot to include if you want to post. This fellow took one five-day fundamentals class last year and then he continued with the Tuesday night classes and made this piece carved in basswood for over his fireplace mantle at his home. He just returned again in May to do the intermediate workshop. His name is Keith Knearem. It’s a nice piece and he went from just learning to now being proficient on his ability to do woodcarving projects.

Gloucester Genealogy Group: Genealogy & Deeds
On Saturday, June 15 from 10:30 to 11:30 am the Sawyer Free Library will host the Gloucester Genealogy Group to discuss the topic of Genealogy and Deeds.
Join Nancy Fitzgerald Doherty from the Southern Essex Registry of Deeds for a presentation on how to use and search the records of the Salem Deeds. The Southern Essex District Registry of Deeds maintains and provides access to land records for Southern Essex District and all of Essex County prior to 1869. The Salem Registry has the oldest continuous land records in the country dating back to 1639. Many older documents contain information on the people who owned the land, including professions, family members, and sometimes wills and estate listing. The Registry also maintains the Old Norfolk Deed Books, Ipswich Deed Books, Books of Executions and Depositions, historic city and town atlases, historic assessor maps, city directories and microfilm copies of early probate records. All of which can be helpful when trying to trace history within Essex County.
All interested are welcome to attend. Registration required at sawyerfreelibrary.org.
A Visit To The Cove At Rockport
We returned to visit the On The Rocks Bar at The Cove at Rockport (1 King Street formerly Peg Leg Inn) on a beautiful afternoon a few days ago. We ordered libations (Modelito and prosecco) and began to people watch. We took advantage of Fresco’s Seaside next door and walked over to pick up some snacks. You are welcome to bring the food from Fresco’s onto the patio while enjoying the view and the libations. It’s a nice little afternoon break. You might want to give it a try.
