That is a marvellous statue…Joan of Arc is the patron saint of France…were it not for her, stopping the invading English at Orleans and other battles, France would have been just another colony of the British Empire such as Scotland or Ireland…she was full of patriotism, faith and, above all, courage. The story behind the statue is very impressive…a gift to the US in appreciation of an ambassador from Gloucester’s efforts to convince Henry Ford to ship dozens of Ford ambulances to the front lines during WWI as the soldiers were in desperate need of them.
This is a true monument to be treasured by residents of Cape Ann and beyond!
