I absolutely loved this song, and Tammy Wynette has always been my favorite female C&W singer, but I do not ever remember hearing her sing this. I saw her perform at the Topsfield Fair years ago when she was beginning her decline. I never thought I would say this, but when I played Alan’s version ( and I had to play both of them twice before I made the decision), I chose Alan’s version. He sang every word so clearly, and when Tammy sang there were some lines I missed. I didn’t know Alan sang C&W & even wrote songs like this. I have only heard him sing sea chantys,. I’d love to hear more of his songs. Thanks so much for sharing this.
